My sweet boy, El, died because of this carelessness! When will this end? I read the labels on the food before I buy it now. I'm just glad Squeak wouldn't eat the food El was eating.

Oh Pawla, I didn't know you lost your sweet EL because of that!! :( That is just terrible!! :(

May I ask which brand he ate, and how you (or your vet) found out that it was from the food? All this is so scary! And with all these recalls going on and on, you begin to wonder which kind of food is still save! :(

This whole situation is just scary and sickening and now with some foods being recalled because of cross-contamination it makes you wonder if anything is safe.

Like I said earlier, I read EVERYTHING now. All Squeak gets is Fancy Feast fish & shrimp, and Whiskas dry. Oh, she occasionally gets her favorite, TUNA FISH. It is scary, especially when you've already lost one to this.

kb2yjx-Thank you. I wonder about the human supply also. I wish I had a better picture of El, but this was the last picture I had taken of him. I do have some of him with hair, but I'll have to scan them to my computer. maybe I'll do an El slideshow soon.

If you can, try and find the food called "California Natural" they have wet and dry food, and they're organics, and expensive (kinda) and they actually care about the animals they make the food for. They haven't been recalled at all yet and they're really good.
I think even a human could live off them easily in an emergency o.O'
It's what I use, and my babies are just hyperactive little sniggers, so I don't think the food is having any adverse effects. Unless you count their tendency to sound like elephants at night from their rampages.

Are California Naturals available in Knoxville, Tennessee? I've never heard of it. The money wouldn't be an issue. I just don't want to lose the cat I have left!

California Naturals is made by the same company that makes Innova and Innova Evo. I know many Pet Supplies Plus stores carry it.

El is waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge Pawla , sadly one of many Pets who passed on too early because these Pet Food Companies cut corners.
When I was out with my Aunt Joan Sunday I bought two Cans of Innova recommended by the Lady there and the Found Ctas loved it.
It was Innova Turkey.
And it was less than Science Diet or Iams.
We will love seeng an El Sideshow and El is telling all his Angel Friends how proud you are of him, and how loved you are by him as well.
And El will se you again.
One Fine Day.

I have used, and loved, Cal. Natural. They also make the EVO stuff as well, and they have another one out called Karma... thought that was an especially cool name!

Anyone have a reccemendation for good kitten food? Mine are eating Purina Kitten Chow and I think its pretty safe but its getting scary out there. So far Purina hasn recalled much of anything. Only a few lots of Alpo wet food a long while back. I dont know where they make the food or where they get the grains. There is only corn in this, no wheat or rice. Am I safe to assume that it should be good? I used to buy walmarts special kitty kitten formula but im afraid to now. Its ingrediants, shape and nutrition are identicle to Purina.

I would need something I could get at Petsmart or Pet supplies plus in the Flint region of Michigan.

I still like Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul. You can find a store using the "find a dealer" link on their web site. They make an adult, kitten and lite version of their dry food.

http://www.chickensoupforthepetloverssoul.com/

All the ingredients are human grade (fit for human consumption) and they don't use any wheat, rice, etc. fillers.

I bought 2 cans of Innova Humae Ingredient Canned as it was on for 1.89.
Did the Found Cats love the Turkey . chicken and Barley.
I have to get 48 cans before the price goes back to 2.39.
Two Cans were gone in a Found Cat Minute!!

I wish my cats would eat wet food. I have tried Innova, Evo, California Naturals, Eagle Pack, and Evangers. My 2 fur babies are very picky. I found some tuna flakes at Petsmart and used it to entice them to eat wet food. That has helped a lot.

Try:

www.petfooddirect.com

Cal Natural isn't really any more expensive than a premium pet store brand.
Around 85 Cents a small can.

I just ordered some Cal Nat and Innova.

(I've got a giant bag of recalled foods going back to Petco)

:D rosethecopycat-Thanks! I will try this food. Squeak is very finicky. She like fancy feast, but here lately she's decided Chicken of the Sea is for her. I give her tuna only for a special treat, but I think I've ruined her! :D

Pawla, please accept my sincerest sympathy on the passing of your sweet El. Keep him in your heart as he's keeping you in his at the RB.

This whole pet food disaster is causing us to worry about what we put in our pets' dishes. One would think the makers of pet food would be very much aware of how very important our animal companions are in our lives and conduct business accordingly. Where is their quality control? Do they even check out their suppliers? Are they more concerned with the bottom line than assuring us that no effort was spared to guarantee the product is safe for our pets?
