I almost cryed when visiting a paper recycling depot.

-----------

I was working with my brother cleaning about a storage room for a title company.

We loaded a truck up with old pamphlets and paper to recycle.

When we arrived at the company we were directed to the area where we could dump the paper.

I got out of the truck and helped my brother back the truck up to the pit.

When I turned around I saw about 150 BRAND NEW TEXT BOOKS tossed on the ground.

The were almost new- The titles were about Animals and Earth sciences.

My brother picked one up and tossed it into the truck.

From the inside if the cover we saw they were used once for one semester, two years ago.

------------------

Having grown up inhaling books, my heart was broken.

I thought about some kid, somewhere, that would have killed to have a text book like that.

-----------------

I thought about looking into why the school books were thrown away like that but suspecting that I'll get a "school district" answer makes me madder!.  :(

Okay, mark me as "guilty" - I once pulled a dozen hymnal out of a recycling bin because I couldn't see music destroyed! They went to a church in WV that was asking for hymnals.

Nowadays, I'd have put them on Freecycle.

Those could have been donated to Oprah's school!!! (No, i'm not joking.)

Heck, I would have liked a few of those. I miss my text books.

I think ANY school wiould have welcomed them!

I would have loaded the whole kit and kaboodle into the truck and sent them SOMEPLACE-The recycling company had bought the books already- they frown on people removing anything from the grounds. :(
