I want to get a comedy for my cousin who is going through a difficult time just now.
She is 50 her husband is 52. He has cancer -- third time. He was a chain smoker from age 15 until last year.
Four years ago he had mouth cancer and lost part of his jaw.
Last year he had throat cancer and lost his voice box.
Now the cancer is back in his throat. The tumor is wrapped around his esophagus (so he is on a feeding tube) and around one carotid artery (so surgery is not an option.) He will be getting either radiation or chemo, but his chances are less than 20% for survival.
He may be able to return to work for 3 or 4 hours 2 or 3 days per week for a while, just to get him out of the house. He is getting bored and depressed. (who wouldn't be!) He works at the post office, just started there 3 years ago. So he could go in for the mornings for sorting mail.
Her mom (my aunt, Dad's sister) is 84 and has cancer -- third time. Also a chain smoker for years.
Ten years ago she lost a breast to cancer.
Six years ago she lost 1/4 of a lung lobe to cancer.
Now the cancer is in the other lung. She is 84 and has decided she is not having ANY treatment. No biopsy; no surgery; no radiation; no chemo.
My cousin started a new job, changing after 18 years, where she had tons of sick time, vacation time, personal time, to get off for doctor visits. She changed jobs a week before all of this was discovered. So now she has extended family and friends taking these two to doctor visits.
They have twin daughters age 22, who have just graduated college each has her first job and first apartment and my cousin is trying not to involve them in all of this, so they can get themselves established.
So I thought a nice comedy would be something they can both enjoy!
Got any suggestions? What's your fav funny?
