At 8:40 p.m. last night, my Grandma Ringle passed away. A little over a week ago she was admitted into the ICU with a staph infection. She was taken off the ventilator yesterday morning but held on until all of her family could be there. Then she opened her eyes, took a breath, and was gone. :(

I feel lucky to have been blessed with knowing my grandparents. My mom's mom, Grandma Hollandsworth, is the sole remaining grandparent and I'm feeling very protective. My sisters and I are her only grandkids.

My dad has not been well himself, so please think of him during this difficult time.

The last time I saw my Grandma was around Christmas and she looked really good. I regret not spending more time with her. :(

I am so sorry for your loss. I do not have any living grandparents and it's very difficult to deal with.
You and your family will be in my thoughts.

You are so lucky to have had your grandparents around as a grown-up - I lost my last one at age 12, so I am jealous. Rest in peace, Grandma Ringle. Our prayers will be with your family at this time.

Kimmy, I am really sorry to hear of your loss of your Grandmother.

I only knew my paternal grandparents - and I loved them to pieces.

Oh Kimmy, I am so sorry. :( She is a lovely lady and I know she cherished every moment she had with her family. What a wonderful picture of you and Andy and your two grandmothers. I hope you have a copy framed somewhere in your home. That is a wonderful thing to cherish.

I was fortunate to know all 4 of my grandparents and we lost our last one at the age of 93 in 2000, my mom's mom. But I have wonderful memories of all 4 of them. I hope that in time you can sit back and remember her with joy.

Thanks everyone. A friend and neighbor of my parents is bringing over a casserole and we're all getting together for dinner.

I again feel very lucky to have known my grandparents (I had three sets - Dad's parents divorced and remarried). Andy never knew his. They passed away when he was a child.

Also, say a prayer for my sister Linn and her husband Nick. Nick's dad has throat cancer and they just found more tumors and a biopsy showed it was aggressive. They give him between 2 days and 6 months. :(

I am so sorry, Kimmy :( You are very fortunate to have grandparents at your age, and I wish I could say the same. My grandfather on my moms side passed away when mom was just a teenager, and her mother passed away when I was 4 I think. My grandparents on my fathers side also passed away when I was an infant. You are so blessed to have been able to grow up with your grandparents and I know they were glad, also, to have such a wonderful granddaughter.

*hugs* to you, and rest in peace, Grandma :(

Thanks again guys.

The visitation went well. My mom did grandma's hair and makeup and she looked good.

Can you believe that just last night someone vandalized the funeral home's AC equipment to steal the copper? :(

It was a little warm (hit 85 degrees today), but they had brought in portable units and by time the second visitation rolled around, they had brand new AC units installed.

Dad's doing well, however, Nick's dad is not doing so well. Lots of prayers needed for his family.
