Serval Kittens ?

If you're thinking of buying a cerval/serval cat then obviously there are just the main things to think about when buying a cat from breeder.

Make sure they can be seen with both parents
Make sure they're a well socialised kitten used to handling and being with people.
They should have healthy clean eyes, nose and bottoms.

They should come with a certificate showing their details, and the breeder should be a member of a breeding club, council etc.
So you know that the breeder if following regulations and everything is done properly.
The main thing is that the kittens welfare is paramount and if they're a good proper breeder they will have healthy kittens.

Good luck in your search. I am not from the area so can't give you any tips on where to find one however, I hope the info helped if you didn't know these things already.

Have you thought about having a good old lovable rescue moggy if you can't find what you're looking for? :)

A Serval (spelled correctly) is an African wild cat. Are you sure that's something you want in your home? Wild...as in belonging in the wild, not lounging on a couch and probably declawed.

You should check and make sure your community allows that. Do you know if they're classified as wild or not? Those two answers might put a halt to it right there.

I can't even begin to imagine the challenges of raising one in the home. It's a downright shame that this wild cat was ever turned into a housepet!

Sure it may seem tempting to have such an exotic pet, but do you really wanna risk it?
Imagine one day, your 'kitty cat' gets into a playful mood and bites you. From a normal cat that would hurt but no permanent damage, but from a SERVAL. You might have lost that hand forever! I mean, look at those teeth!

You can get the Serval de-clawed (which I still look down upon) but you cant get the poor thing de-toothed!

I believe they require a special license, you have to be approved, etc., as well. Might want to check into that, first. :)

Isnt There A Domestic Cat Thats Looks Like A Serval And That What Be What This Lady Is Referring Too Not An Actual Wild Cat.

If you're really going to get a serval or caracal, make sure there's a vet in your area who can help you take care of these wild breeds. The zoo would be a good place to look. Also, make sure your health insurance is reliable and not some cheapie HMO that would refuse to pay for injuries incurred through improper contact with a wild animal. Any legal ambiguity at all, and most plans will drop you like a hot potato, or tangle it all up in red tape so that it won't ever get resolved until long after you'd have died of old age anyway. You won't be able to sue the breeder for damages - courts of law don't accept refusal to do the requisite homework grounds for a claim.

I realize that if you're even considering something this inadvisable, solid advice isn't really welcome anyway, but the bottom line is: DON'T.
