In about 7 weeks I will be getting a new puppy. He is a chihuahua rat terrier mix. He is from an accidental litter that my teacher had. He is actually the only boy in the litter and he is sable in color. I am very exited about this! I have always wanted a tiny dog.

This will also be the tiniest puppy I have ever gotten. I have never gotten one under the age of 15 weeks (that was how old lucy was). This will also be the smallest dog I have ever owned. The mom is only 5 pounds and the dad is 10 I believe. I'm very exited!

I saw pics on the computer at school but don't have any yet. I think sometime next week he will burn me a cd with pics on it to take home. No I don't have any names picked yet. Believe it or not though this will be mine and my mom's first ever male dog. She has had alot of dogs and none have been male. I have had 6 dogs and none have been male either. lol

Just wondering. Do you know any ways I can prepare my other dogs for this? I'm especially afraid of Lucy because she is pretty big and loves to kill small prey animals. I would like to think she wouldn't hurt a puppy though.

Definitely keep the Lucy and the new pup on a leash when they meet, and introduce them very carefully. Hopefully she'll see him as a dog, and not as "prey" but it is best not to take chances.

I will definatly do it slowly. Lucy has a very high prey drive and kills squirrels and rabbits on a regular basis. She is usually good with other dogs though. She is very good with maggie who is much smaller than her. They constantly play together.

Congratulaions! We have a rat terrier at our dogpark, and he is one of my favorites - he's just so darn cute! We'll be watching for those pictures!
