I don't know if everyone is aware, but there was a horrible fire at our local Humane Society (Jacksonville, FL) a few weeks ago. Almost all of the cats died and there are some dogs remaining, but not too many. They are trying to re-build and get supplies to help as many abandoned animals as possible. The community has really come together to raise money and foster some of the pets. They have raised about $300k as of a few days ago.
