These first pictures are from the area where people have a stone dug into the ground with their name on. The round area is where they put flowers from new graves, that doesn’t have enough space for them.

Then a picture of my friend’s daughter, who recently moved in in the building, she lives just around the corner from me. :)

I love this tree! The ground below wil be covered in little blue flowers in a few weeks time. :)

A nice statue

And then a tree I quite liked the shape of and the flowers on it. I have been looking for one to put on the other side of John’s gravestone - so far, I have planted some Lavender there.

You’re going to laugh when you hear what the gardner said about this tree.... it is paper flowers!! So I’ll keep looking.

Forgive my ignorance Randi but can I ask who John was? I don't remember seeing anything about him sorry but the pictures are lovely.

John was the love of my life, and he was a member of PT. He posted as Jonza and his posts are still here. :) Sadly, he died very suddenly in February 2005. :( :( :(

This is a pdf of the churchyard, John is in section M, just below the three little red flower icons. I live to the left where it says Park.

John was Randi's husband! He was a much loved member of PT too, posting as "JONZA". He died 2 years ago (or is it 3, Randi??)

What a unique graveyard. I love the stone markers and unique animal headstones.. That is just such a cool idea, I wished we had those here..
I love visiting old graveyards.

I can only see bits of these as I am traveling and my %$# laptop can be very slow. Please keep them to the top of the list so I can see them when I return home. They look so lovely!

As you know, I often go for a walk at the churchyard, there are so many pretty sights, and it's so peaceful. :)

This time, I'll attach some pictures I took recently. There are so many different trees, some very old.

Randi, it looks so peaceful and beautiful there..........I can understand why you want to spend time there.

Some of the statues are beautiful. It also looks as though it is a huge area - more like a park than a cemetary.

Randi,

I have always been fascinated by cemeteries. I love looking at the stones to see the ages of the people that passed away.

What a beautiful place it is! Thanks for sharing such beautiful pictures.

Thought I’d share some more pictures from the cemetary across the road, where I go for a walk, and to visit John almost every day.

We had a storm last week, and one of the big trees just outside the cemetary didn’t make it. It is in the process of being cut down.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/Fister/Grave%20yard/Faeldet-trae.jpg

Not far from the entrance is Niels Bohr’s grave, it’s on the path framed with tall poplar trees - and where it’s allowed to cycle.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/Fister/Grave%20yard/Niels-Bohrs-grave.jpg

Going a little further down to the left is this nice statue of a lady.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/Fister/Grave%20yard/Statue-cemetary.jpg

There are beautiful trees and bushes along the way.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/Fister/Grave%20yard/Red-bush.jpg

And just before going into the next section is a funny little statue of a boy. Look at that shadow!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/Fister/Grave%20yard/Statue-w-shadow.jpg

Going further on, you see this statue.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/Fister/Grave%20yard/Kneelingstatue.jpg

And going north, you pass this beautiful tree.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/Fister/Grave%20yard/Red-tree.jpg

Unfortunately, in the far end they have started clearing a corner where a Metro St. will be built. Quite a chunk they will take. :(

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/Fister/Grave%20yard/HJJagtvejokt09-2.jpg

On my way, I also met a few squirrels and managed to get a video clip.

How beautiful, Randi! I love walking through old cemeteries. I'm intrigued by the history and beauty of the stones and the people buried there.

Tomorrow will be my Mom's 36th anniversary. I'll go and spend some time at Rose Hill Memorial Park with her and my Dad before I go to work. I can't believe it's been that long.

Lovely pictures, as always. I do love old cemeteries, and our property actually abuts the Newton Cemetery, were several of my relatives are buried. I love well-maintained old paces, and knowing the history of the peoples.

I still go for walks at the cemetary, but don’t bring my camera very often. :o However, I did get a picture of a pretty tree the other day.

One day, I met a guy with a similar camera as the one I have and we had a long chat about settings. He is very interested in photography and I’m sure he can teach me a few things. :) He got this picture last week.

Is that animal a squirrel? Or if not, what is it?

If it is one, they (or at least that one) look totally different from the ones here!

Randi, Your pictures are wonderful. I wish I had traveled to Denmark while I lived in the Netherlands. This was a trip that was planned but just never got around to it.
Because of one picture you posted on the Magnolia tree I had to google Magnolia because what you were calling a Magnolia is what we in the south refered to as a Tulip tree. The Tulip tree as we call it is one of the first to bloom in the spring. When I looked it up sure enough it is called a Tulip Magnolia and it appears there are many different varieties in different parts of the world. Our southern Magnolia is a huge tree with very big blossums. I got to see one grow from just a stick with one leaf to a monster so big you could sit under it in a rain storm and it took several minutes before the rain finally reached you. This is a picture of the Southern Magnolia.

The cluster as seen in this shot is probably a foot across.

What wonderful pictures Randi! I love the squirrel. Ours don't have the furry tufts in their ears here. I always loved walking in cemeteries. They are so peaceful.

KK, this guy is quite patient when he goes out with his camera. ;) I was not there the day he got that shot, but I'll ask him how long he had to stand there and just wait.

The squirrels we have here are different from the ones you have in the US - yours are mostly grey, aren't they? I never really noticed the tufts in the ears, not sure all of them have these.

Kokopup, I didn't know until recently that there are different kinds of Magnolia trees. The ones you have in the south are very impressive and so beautiful. I know that they are the State flower/tree in Mississippi and I've seen pictures of them from Willow Oak. The Dogwood trees are nice, too.

A pity you didn't make it to Denmark, I think you would have liked it! :)

This is one I shot last year, not half as good as the other one, but I love the tree.

Randi, the way this tree is growing reminds me of the Live Oak that grows in the coastal region of the southern US. This is a very impressive tree and one that would have attracted me as a kid because of it easy access for climbing.
A tree similarly shaped was my favorite as a kid. I built tree houses and ladders into the limbs all through this tree. It was a Mulberry tree that was cut down years later when I was grown. I heard the man that had the task of cutting the tree was cursing me with every cut. I had probably put 100 lbs of nails in that tree, over the years, and this managed to repeatedly dull his saw. :D

This is the Southern Live Oak Tree.

Wow, that tree is wonderful!! I would have loved to climb that, too - yes, I did climb trees when I was a child.

LOL! I can just imagine his cursing.

There are quite a few of these trees at the cemetary, but I don't know the name of them. They look quite spooky when it gets dark. I will see if I can find the name of them.

European red squirrels have always tufts in their ears- but you need an excellent shot like the one your friend took to see them so well.
I am sure that cemetery must be fantastic for squirrels :)

Thanks for the memories, Randi. We all miss John. Hearts never really mend, they just keep on. I am sure he knows how much he was loved and wishes he hadn't left so early. You will meet again, someday. But until then, keep enjoying your loved ones and be happy, as you seem to be. Jonza was a great photographer, as I recall.

Yes, we all miss you Jonza! You were loved by many.:love::love::love:
