(I made up a stallion and his ad in like a magazine?)

(Barbaro :[)

(haha just a horse. Nothing special. I'm trying to figure out how to draw them from the front especially the hooves)

Sorry the last 3 are crummy. My scanner broke so I have to take pictures. In the 1st one, my scanner actually worked. Oh, and pleae excuse the erase marks, I don't have any good erasers.

*EDIT* I know Barbaro is a little out of porportion..so is his rider.
hehe I'm doing this soI don't think about riding tomorrow on Friday the 13 :]]

The bring it on headline drawing is really good, I love the one in the top left hand corner. The stallion and his ad are really pretty, the racer drawing is simply amazing. I really wish I could draw horses that good, the first one is way better than any horse I can draw now. How did you start learning to draw them?? I would try to draw some, but I guess you got to be naturally a good drawer  Which i'm not, I'm making a horse figure out of newspaper and paper machie type stuff in art thought. Its coming out really nice so far, I'm still putting on the paper machie stuff. I'll post pictures once i'm done:)

Actually, you've already got the thread started. Great!!! Good luck. :)

Where are our horse people out there? :)

You are improving, though as you noted, Barbaro's legs are far too long for his body, but you are getting better. To get even better, try working on one "part" at a time - do several sketches, including shading, based on one front leg and hoof, for example, make that the size of your page each time. Pay attention to how the muscles form shadows and highlights, and how the horse holds and bends that leg. Then do a hind leg for as many times, it's called doing "studies." You'll get to know the horse anatomy better, and you'll be surprised how much that will help when you then do a "whole horse" from scratch!

Thanks guys! I'm going to search for 'how to draw' various horse parts. I like to look at pictures, too. The Barbaro running is from a video I found on youtube :]

Karen - I'll definitely try that. Maybe some today...make myself not think about riding today...

I_Luv_Rusty - I can't wait to see it! Sound cool! My figures/sculptures always looked like...well...a pile of clay. :]

Hey, you have good proportion in your drawings, that's definitely improved as in the first drawing the forelegs are waaay to short. Also remember that a horses eyes are on the side of the head, so when you can only see one side of the face you can barely see the eye, if at all. You've got it almost right in the last pic. Do you prefer to just draw outlines or do you shade too? I have a lot of horse sketches that I would like to show you but my stupid scanner won't co-operate, so I only have a few old ones on my website. Here's two old ones:

Mostly draw outlines. The first one, I was doing it from my calander last year, so thats why I colored it. I can shade...but pretty much only basic. No muscles or anything like that. I hate coloring them. I've only colored oneof my horse things and that was for art last year.

Wow you are really good! The first one looks really familiar...

The whole first part is about drawing horses based on anatomy.
