I can't help but root for the Dodgers. I love Luis Gonzales... He's such a great guy! I spent the first 26 years of my life in Houston... and watched him play for the Astros coming up in the leagues, and the last several years have watched him play for the D-Backs here in my new state of Arizona. Gonzo was released from the Diamondbacks at the end of last season, and he went to the Dodgers.
I just love watching the Dodgers beat the D-Backs.

:D

I also like watching the Yankees. I grew up and went to school with Andy Pettite... so it's interesting to watch him play.

"The Red Sox are playing their home opener tonight and Dice-K is on the mound! I feel a World Series coming on this year! Go Sox!"

It's good to have another sox fan in here :) I'm confused though - DiceK didn't pitch the home opener....the home opener was on 4/10 and Beckett pitched...and DiceK pitched the 11th. Both great games...I was at Opening Day :)

Tonight - Red Sox vs Yanks :D Schilling vs Pettitte....I'm headed to Fenway in a few hours for this one. Go Sox!!!

And... my Cubs have won ONE in a row! Woohoo! Last week they had three consecutive wins - but they can't seem to keep it all together again this year. Watching the White Sox struggling is just heartbreaking. So close, and yet so far. The second installment of the Crosstown Classic (Cubs vs. Sox) is this weekend -- so that means that our two teams can't both lose. Phew! The Bears' pre-season starts in mid-August, too.

I forgot to post about the 'contest' before the ASG.

Did they pick the wimpiest guy to hit off of the tee?

The contest was 30 seconds to hit three balls off of a tee. I think it was a million dollars to hit the ball, on the fly, for a million dollars more than 285 feet. There were two other prizes 500,000 for something like 260 feet and 100,000 for 245.

He barely rolled it 245.

He shoulda taken some steroids.

The Cubs are only half a game behind Milwaukee in the NL Central ... they play today, but the Brewers don't. Like every Cubs fan I hate to get my hopes up ... but it's hard not to with the way they've been playing. GO, CUBBIES!

Meanwhile, the Sox lost to Toronto at home yesterday. They won two of the three games in the series, though. They're off today. This has been such an up-and-down year for them.

We also have a minor-league team, the Kane County Cougars, who are part of the Oakland A's organization. Those games are a blast because the tickets and parking are cheap compared to the Cubs and Sox, the food's good, and there are always fun things going on like give-aways or watching children run on the base paths after the game. They have fireworks several times each year, and you never know who you'll see playing that might someday be in the major league. Plus, our Cougars have won five out of their last 6! Yeay!

They began to get rid of the roaches and rats in the stadium, Honest!

Coco Crisp of the Bosox was almost run over by the mascot of the Mariners.
For once, a moose runs over a man, justice?

The criticism of Bud Selig not being a huge fan of Barry Bonds isn't justified.
The media was ticked off at Bonds being an AH to reporters and writers for the longest time.

Now that Bonds is kissing tail and trying to make up for his mistreatment of the media, he's become Poor Barry. Now BB is the greatest, most loved and most misunderstood baseball player on the planet.

He should just come clean about using 'roids and get it over with.

Aaron will always be the greatest home run hitter in pro ball, end of subject.

RICHARD, I totally agree with you. Barry might as well admit that he uses them, everyone else in the country knows it. The IRS has put out a press release saying that Matt Murphy, the guy that ended up with the BB ball has to pay

210,000 dollars even if he does not sell it.

They claim that the 12 dollars baseball is earned income and that because of the expected price of 600,000 dollars, Murphy is in the hole for that amount for being the owner.

Three words for Mr. Murphy.

GO, CUBS!

Three 7:05 PM games against Milwaukee. The first in the series starts in half an hour. Milwaukee is a game and a half back, but the Cardinals are only two back. Unfortunately, they lost a couple of winnable games to Arizona over the weekend. It looks like tonight's game won't be affected by rain. It's supposed to rain here all day tomorrow and then be fine on Thursday.

Meanwhile, down on the South Side, the Sox are having a heartbreaker of a season. It stinks to see them keep losing like this.

Did you see the game between the Cubs and the L.A. Dodgers yesterday ... L.A. 11, Cubs 3. Does that count as high-scoring with you? When I was in high school they played one where they scored 22, but they lost because the opponent scored 23! Every couple of seasons, we sometimes see that one on late night TV during the off-season.

Ironically, Milwaukee and St. Louis also lost, so the Cubs are still on top of the N.L. Central. I thought Zambrano was not at his best yesterday - between his pitching and base-running he just didn't have a good day. It's too bad - the Cubs enjoy successful seasons like this one so infrequently and then a player behaving badly (and blaming it on his personal perfectionist streak) has to go and spoil it.

And on the South Side ... the Sox have won three of their last 5 and Thome did get his 500th home run. It has been frustrating to watch them this season. They just haven't been able to get consistent success.

Boston Red Sox vs. Philadelphia Phillies.

Why?

I dearly want to see Brett Meyers (the wife beater) go back to Fenway so he can get booed off of the field. (If it does happen he's going to need a police escort around town. The Red Sox have gotten rid of at least two players for similar problems, and the fans forced the team's hand on the issue)
