Oh my gosh BC your back yard is heaven, a pond, a field all those lovely furballs. Oh I am so jealous, I have a nice house but a small yard. I so want to be out in the country like you.

I also loved the pictures of Ireland, how charming. Can't wait to go someday and see all the lovely sites and history.

Here is my house.

We have a small and modest home, but it is cosy, the kitties love all the verandahs which go right around the corner to sunbathe in their glory, in summertime i usually have hanging baskets filled with pretty impatients of all colours, unfortunately not in this photo, but it really does make the place look a lot brighter.it's not much but it is ours. :)

Nice houses everyone! Kelly, your house is huge, nice place you got there! ;)

Here is my farm... not the best time to take pictures since all the snow is melting right now, I promise you, it looks a lot better in the summer. :o I live in the house, and my grandpa lives in the trailer, the big white shed is part of my grandpa's work shop, and then our riding arena for the horses. :)

NICE!

So I give up ... what's the CROP you raise on the Farm?

Any Livestock / Critters (other than your pleasure horses) - or just a Crop?
How many Acres?

It is in CRP right now, we used to raise wheat. They are taking the CRP out this summer and are leaving it for a year, not sure what they're doing after that. We have no other "critters" here except for our ducks of course. I have no idea how many acres, but its a lot! :p

Don't say that I am sure your house is just as beautiful and would love to see it. We are still renovating ours and the building in the back of one of the pictures is called a piggary years ago people would keep pigs and this would be their home. We have knocked a full door in teh back of it and that is where the doggies stay during the day when we are at work and at night they do not like to sleep in the house for some reason.

Inside it we have a wooden kennel/house for them that is raised 4 inches off the ground and in that they have their cushion and two blankets, a box full of toys and a radio... yes I know kinda sad but they love it they are only short of getting a phone and a t.v. what can I say we have the most spoiled dogs in ireland I think.

No pictures of our house at the moment, I'll try to dig one up later.

I just explained in an earlier post about the building at the back and what it is called. Our house is approximately 120 years old and there were 3 families reared there and they had at the very least 12 children in each but guess what we only have 4 rooms in the house upstairs would have been 2 bedrooms and downstairs would have been a bedroom and a kitchen. They would have had an outdoor toilet at the side of the piggary which is still there but has a more modern toilet in it now. We use that when my husband is working in his workshop as for him to come in and use hte bathroom upstairs he would drag plasterdust and other yucky stuff through the house. We have converted one of the bedrooms upstairs into a bathroom and the bedroom downstairs is now our sitting room.

We love it and plan to extend on to it as per our planning conditions and in keeping wiht the house. We intend to knock the piggary and use the granite stone from that in the extension.

Our house is made from granite stone and the walls from outside to in are 3 foot thick, we have replaced the old wooden windows with the nearest style of pvc windows. We love where we live as we look across at a farm on the other side of the road and pick out our lamb for easter dinner and the rest of the year, sorry lamb lovers but that is a way of life I am afraid....

James Herriot was from Scotland but lived and worked in the Yorkshire Dales. The countryside is quite similar although I believe Ireland tends to be a little rockier whereas the Dales is mostly made of heath-y hills. The Dales is beautiful, I've been many times and I have been to the place that Herriot used to practice. Lancashire's countryside is similar but greener and not as harsh. :)

Anyway, here's some pics of my house. It looks awful to everyone elses, I just love the American stlye of house. In these pics it looks quite small, it's a lot bigger in real life because it's deeper than it is wide.

Logan..is that a Japanese maple??? Gorgeous...

Thanks, Sara. It is a Japanese Maple, and the night after I took that picture, the freezing temperatures killed all of that wonderful new growth. :( We took a beating for 5 straight nights and most of the smaller trees and bushes were affected. I hope everything will come back!

These pictures are all terrific, you guys! I hope more people will post. And I don't think anyone ought to be ashamed or shy about showing them. After all, it is your "home", and I think all of us have an ongoing list of things we want to do to make our homes look nicer. :)

Aw, thanks. :) I suppose having a father who works for a seed and bulb company is helpful in brightening up our small garden. ;) And yes, Carole, you are right, it is expensive to get houses over here. That's £300,000 worth of house that I posted! I would never pay that for it in a million years! I guess I'll have to get a pretty little house in the states for half the price, I just love seeing how beautifully designed they are (that is, if I don't make my million and buy myself a mansion first ;) :p )

Normally I am not an envious person* but all the pictures of your homes are bringing out the green in me, in buckets! As I live cheek by jowl beside my neighbours it's not so much the size of your houses but the space you have around outside I envy.

The house I live in is in a fairly long terrace and has two floors, it's floor width is approx 16ft and depth approx 25ft
(all pictures are clickable thumbs)
Looking out from the front window and looking back at the house. The side fences are boundary ones. The window to the right is my neighbours.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/CwmmawrJet/Bobby%20Boy/Miscellaneous/th_f3ac7d12.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/CwmmawrJet/Bobby%20Boy/Miscellaneous/f3ac7d12.jpg) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/CwmmawrJet/Bobby%20Boy/Miscellaneous/th_f3ac7bf4.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/CwmmawrJet/Bobby%20Boy/Miscellaneous/f3ac7bf4.jpg)

At the back.

Looking from my kitchen window toward the gate and back up. The window you see just beyond the fence on the left is my neighbours.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/CwmmawrJet/Bobby%20Boy/Miscellaneous/th_f16ebd66.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/CwmmawrJet/Bobby%20Boy/Miscellaneous/f16ebd66.jpg) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/CwmmawrJet/Bobby%20Boy/Miscellaneous/th_f3ac82f2.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/CwmmawrJet/Bobby%20Boy/Miscellaneous/f3ac82f2.jpg)

The width looking across from the boundary wall to the left of my back door to the right boundary fence with my other neighbour.

And finally, the view I get right now, if looking right, whilst at the kitchen sink. Next door's gate and washing, just missed capturing the neighbour who is doing some sort of work on their garden. I avoid looking if I can but you know how movement somehow draws the eye. :)

Oooo what one is it? I always like to make sure I get everybody's brochure so that I get the best selection.

It's De Ree UK Ltd, the UK version of De Ree Holland. The website is here (UK version is in the holland bit somewhere). (http://www.deree-holland.nl/flower_bulbs/index.asp?taal=en&i=bedrijf) It doesn't say very much about their products on the website, but if you want to know anything I can ask my dad! :D

These were taken last May, just before we moved in. I don't have any more recent pictures. We've done a little work to the outside, but it pretty much looks the same. It needs a lot of work, but we've been working mostly on the interior so far.

This is the house:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v704/KBlaix2/other/262.jpg

This is the "barn"-
(I forgot how patchy the yard was then, the grass has all filled in now.)
The bottom of the barn is Justin's garage/workshop. Justin and his dad finished the upstairs of the barn into 3 room. The birds/rodents have half of the upstairs. The other half is halfed into 2 rooms- one room for Izzy, our Iguana, and the other is for the snakes and tortoises.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v704/KBlaix2/other/256.jpg

The stables need some work before we can really use them, but we hope to get them fixed up soon (and add some more) so we can get chickens and goats within the next couple years.

Miss Z your house is close to 900,000 dollars in NZ, that is a mighty fine house, infact you would get a right corker here for that, a house i can only dream of,although my sister has a mansion worth over a million dollars,(well not really, but compared to mine it is ) lol i will get her to send a pic and post it, if possible, i call mine the dogs kennel in comparison lol.

Each and every home is lovely in its own way, and as i always say there is no place like home, mine ain't big or flash, but is is cosy and yes i would love to have it bigger and re-decorate alot more, but it is more than just a roof over our head, a home is what you make it, home is where the heart is after all. :)

Those who know me know how much I love these threads, because I just love houses in general. I find all the houses posted here appealing and, Chris, you must acknowledge there are many benefits to having a compact garden area. Personally as someone who just doesn't have the energy for managing much outdoor space, I find your yards the perfect size. Having a contained plot of the good earth is a blessing and there seems to be a little soul who is in his glory in that space.

You will all have to wait a bit until the leaves on my front trees have flushed out a bit before I take a picture. I can't use an old picture because there have been some recent changes made which I'd like to reflect.

Gosh seeing the house in Arizona is out of this world to me, we just have nothing like it here, because we don't have desert, but i have seen some houses built with a real mexican theme, with the gardens and cacti in them, and they are really amazing. Gosh can i please come holiday with you, gorgeous homes.

Here is a pic of my sister's house.,this is the front, the back has huge opening doors and at night a view of auckland city, with its lights is rather lovely.

Haha, here is our little house. Excuse the condition. This was right before the yard was all cleaned up. It looks loads better on the inside. =]

Thanks guys! Carole, I like that the AZ house is built in that theme as well - the architect that built the house was instructed to make it feel like we were living in a sculpture, so the whole thing is a very circular theme which I really like. And I wish we could spend more time at the Antigua house, I love it there! Beautiful beaches, nice people, PRIVACY galore...but we can't bring the animals with us, because the island has really strict quarantine laws...there is actually NO rabies on the entire island, so they require that animals be held for 2 weeks before being allowed in, so we leave them at home....meaning we don't go there very often because I hate leaving my babies behind!

Luckynumber7, Do you have any pics of what your houses look inside? I was just wondering since they are soooo nice and amazing I figured the inside has to be really nice also!

The house is in Carefree AZ :)

Kfamr, if it was up to me, sure! My fiance might not like it though lol

Angelbow20, I'm not 100% sure whether I have pictures of the inside of the house in AZ, but I will look! I know I have some good ones of the land surrounding the AZ house, I can post those ones if ya want. I know for sure that I have pictures of the inside of the Antigua house on my computer...I'm heading to bed but I will upload some in the morning and post them

Luckynumber7, what job do you do to afford such beautiful houses? I love the AZ one, but the beach one is abosolutely gorgeous! I love how it's right on the water. If I were you, I'd live there all year-round. :p

LuckyNumber7

I wish we could live there year round! I don't work right now, but when I did, I was in the mortgage business. The houses are my fiance's, with the exception of the one in Massachusetts, that's both of ours! He also has a few in New York, but I don't have any pictures of those ones, and they're nothing special to look at anyways :p

I don't have any pictures of the inside of the AZ house, but I have a couple more of the Antigua house. Next time we go down there I can try to take some. The inside of the Antigua house isn't all that remarkable...it's kind of an open concept place, all the rooms open into eachother except the bedroom. The guest house is pretty cool, but I've never stayed in that so I have no pictures of it.

This is the front of the house and the patio where we usually eat breakfast

Edit - I just realized, that's not really many pictures of INSIDE the house. Sorry :( We're usually outside because it's so nice out!

Funny you say that - I have a pretty bad phobia of going in water where I can't see the bottom and warned my fiance before our first trip to Antigua that I probably wouldn't go in the ocean and he just laughed at me. The water is crystal clear there, I love it! The pictures in my 1st post from up above the house we took while we were on a helicopter ride....there is an island not too far from Antigua that has an active volcano on it, and we got to fly over the crater and stuff...it was crazy!

I think I may have put it wrong, it's not having a larger garden/yard area I envy, I would just like some space either side, a walkway would do. Enough so I wouldn't have to take the mower through the house to do the lawn, that sort of thing. :)

Roxy and BCollie_Kelly, Sure! :D And of course your dogs are welcome too. I think we might go back to the Antigua house sometime soon...we've been talking about maybe planning our wedding to be down there as well, but that would really limit the amount of relatives that could make it down there, so we'll probably scrap that idea.
