Demolition work is being started today for the demolishing of Pittsburgh's Mellon Arena formerly known as the Civic Arena. It's the home arena for the Pittsburgh Penguins and other sporting events. It's aging and will be replaced by a new sporting complex. Mellon arena was built in the in the early to mid sixties and will be missed in the Pittsburgh skyline. RIP.

I was in Pittsburgh on a boat one time and got a BEAUTIFUL picture... wish I knew where it was so I could post it... I hear the guys talk about being up there working and how COLD it is up there in the winter.

It can get pretty cold on our rivers. In the summer they're so beautiful with all of the boats on them. We even have our own riverboat called the Majestic that takes tours up and down our three rivers and people get to see unusual views of Pittsburgh.

Wait a minute!

It's not as "old" as *I* am! :p

I remember when that part of "the Hill District" was a blighted slum ...
BEFORE they built the Civic Arena!

Progress ... :(
