I received an email from a friend this morning, so I thought I'd pass the info on.

(deleted llinks because they are now broken - 2019)

Thanks I've notified my friends. I did a double check on my food supplies just to make sure. (On occasion I'll get sophisticat at PetSmart - I had a few cans which weren't on the recall list, but I'm not feeding them.)

This is still scary, because it could happen with the off brands (the expensive ones) too, although not as likely.

I'm surprised more people didn't comment.

I wonder if wheat gluten is in our food supply.

There is a post about this in General. I just checked and was shocked to see Nutro was listed. I only feed dry but my vet told me to start feeding Ripley some wet food to help with his kidney failure a few weeks ago. I've been feeding him Nutro but thank goodness the particular kind I've been feeding him isn't on the recall list. I still don't feel safe about it though. Imagine trying to help his kidney failure only to be making it worse. Very scary.

oh my gosh.I have been feeding Zip and Pumpkin that wet food.

edit:throw all of the wet food away and the nutro dry(who knows if they will recall that next)and run out and got natural balance dry.

I have Taz on wet to help him gain weight and it is on this list. :(
I hope trying to help him get better doesn't ultimately make him worse!!!
I'm going to check my cans now. But who knows about the can's I've already fed him!!! OH NO!!!!!

Edit: Whew!! Just checked the cans I have and none match the can's on the list. So should I stop giving him this food, or just take the list to the store with me and check UPC numbers??

I have fed the pouches in the past and will not do so now.
Iam glad that the Special Kitty was not listed as the Porch Cats love the Wild Duck and Rice.
I buy the Science Diet Canned and am glad that thats not on that list.
I would never feed the Found Cats or Porch Cats anything bad.
Its not worth the Vet Bills and Friends who are ill!!!

I'm sorry there are so many Threads on PT trying to cover this Recall ...
but ...

SOME "Science Diet" wet foods ARE on the Recall List!

Please refer to Post # 21 on the thread
"Major "wet" pet food recall of "Store Branded" dog & cat foods ... at >>>

http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?t=123940&page=3&pp=10

The "Science Diet" foods were never listed on the Menu Foods recall site -
but those few Science Diet foods ARE made by Menu Foods and ARE being recalled
as suspected bad foods.

Gary - check the FULL NAME of your canned foods ... there's more to the
"name" than "Science Diet Canned".

Purina Precautionary Dog Food Recall (http://www.purina.com/company/press/2007/MightyDog.aspx)

I found the above link while browsing cat food companies that weren't listed on the MENUFOODS list.

I cross posted in the DOGS section already.

The PetSmart site has a little more information.

We were at PetSmart today and they had all the effected food off their shelves.
Walmart was taking stuff off shelves when I was there this afternoon.

None of the wet Authority we had was effected thank goodness.

My advise just check cans carefully to the list. Stores have lists on their shelves also.
