Hey, little sparrow
Puffed up against the cold
You know as well as I, winter's still here, though it's old
Sing your spring song, dear one,
Tell the humans it won't be long
But winter's still here, and has to have it's say
Spring just got to pop up for a couple days
Winter's still got some strength
But not as strong as a sparrow's will
And you, little bird, you tell them, okay?
That you'll be around, whatever come and still
Wee little sparrow, puffed against the cold
Go ahead, tell the humans that winter's growing old

bcollie_kelly, your birdie pictures are very sweet! When I left work Wednesday evening there was freezing rain coming down. Today is sunny, very clear and in the 40s - actually pretty good for mid-March in Chicago. There are 2 St. Patrick's traditions in the Windy City - the Chicago River must be colored green and the weather must not be pleasant. It's supposed to be funky out all weekend and then warm up again next week.

agh nuts....it just started in the next town over. I have to drive home in this c-r-a-p.

My Mom called & left a message saying to make sure I have enough food in the house because I won't be able to go anywhere tomorrow. :D

LOL that always makes me laugh. it's the same around here. They hear they are gonna get up to 6 inches of snow and everyone freaks and buys out the grocery stores like they are gonna be stranded. for 6 inches? lol

Back home where I am from they FINALLY shut down businesses because we got 3 feet of snow in less than 24 hours and the city was being stupid about getting the plows out lol. It was the first time in over 20 years they have closed anythign due to weather lol

These are some great shots! The first is my favorite. I love how you can see the snow flurries in the background.

The birds must be confused, too!

Awww I caught all those birds bare hand, except the blue bunting,

White-throated sparrows have such beautiful songs.

Poor little babies, I wish we could just call them inside for some free seeds and water in that kinda weather lol.

The snow is melting here in Toronto YAY!

The Robins are already comming back lol.

Great pics.

aww! Der so cute, all puffed up! I think the whole Northern Hemesphere was experiencing the same weather anomilie, we had it, and several people in England from another forum, and family in pretty much all of the areas of the US said it was the same heat wave, then cold again.
