And I am getting more and more nervous. I feel so bad for her. I have worked at vets for a few years, and I am still SO nervous about my babies. Will she be ok? Am I doing the right thing for her? I guess that is something I will have to get over.
She has had a little diarrhea the last 2 days. She still pigs out, her belly gets SO BIG! But the funny thing is, it gets huge, then goes down a bit. I dont think the babies are growing any... and that worries me. But the bloat seems to go in spurts.
I will be taking her at 7:00 am on Thursday, March 8th. Please pray for her that she does well. I feel so guilty... But I need to do it.
Aces will also be getting the works done on him. The person whom adopts him must be responsible for his neuter. Funds just arent there.

I still have (Andy, Abigail, Alvin)<~ inside only.... and Amos (which I re caught today, he has been MIA for a few days). They all still need vet care and adoptors.

PLEASE pray for Abbie girl. Keep her in your thoughts. I will update on Thursday when I get her home. Katie and kitties

I know it must be hard but I personally think you are doing the responsiable thing. There are just too many kittens out there without a home

She will be in my prayers!

Don't worry Katie, everything will be okay. Abbie seems like a strong lil' girl. I will keep you and Abbie in my thoughts. You ARE doing the right thing, even though it is hard.

I think you are doing the best thing. Im sure she will be fine. If the babies are not alive she will only get sick. Luckily she got a check up and you know that likely are not so it wont get to that point. (((HUGS))) for you and Abbie both.

Abigail is now home and resting. She had her spay this morning, I dropped her off at 7 am and kept calling CONSTANTLY to check on her. They did not do the FIP test, Dr. Lehr said the accuracy of the test was less than 40%, and that if she got pregnant from an intact FIP+ male, that chances are it would not show up anyways,
He did do palpatations on her belly, did another exam, and when he opened her up to do the spay/abortion, looked through her stomach cavity and said all looked good. NO dark fluid to his knowledge. Since she has not been having symptoms, to just wait a little while longer to see. If anything happens, we will then do the ELISA test on her. THANK GOD! She checked out healthy, and he said she is in perfect health.
She is on antibiotics because of the abortion, and has pain medication as well.
She is happy, purring, but still sore and wobbily. She ate 1/4 of her favorite canned food at 8 pm. I am so happy all is ok. I doubt she has FIP, and so did the doctor. I am going to just keep an eye on her. But all seems well now.

Thank you everyone for your positive thoughts and prayers. It means so much to us! Katie Layne

Things like FIP, FIV, FELV don't show up on any test until 3 or more months since exposure anyway, so your vet was correct in not doing the test immediately and saved you some money (some vets would have done it anyways because the client asked for it, and gotten possibly a false sense of security).

FIP is rather uncommon around here for the most part, although the few that we've had seem to all come from the same area in the country. The FIP test is testing for the corona virus, however it can show a positive if the cat is carrying the virus but isn't suffering from it. So it can still be a guessing game as to whether the cat actually has it or not. Unfortunately veterinary medicine still hasn't figured out how to 100% test for everything out there yet.

Thank you all so much!

Catlady711, he probably would have ripped me off, but I worked for him forever, and he cant pull it over on me. I asked for the accuracy rate ( I always do).
The test runs from 65-85 dollars, and I cant waste money on unneccessary things, ya know? I still have 4 other cats to treat and test.
But no symptoms yet, so all is well for right now.

Price wise I think we charge around $60-65 to send it out to the lab so that seems like a reasonable price range.

I'm confused if you worked for him for years but say 'he probably would have', then I take it he would normally have done the testing with other clients then??

My boss won't do any uneccessary tests unless the clients get down right ornery about insisting for them even when explained why now isn't the time to do one or whatever the reason is.

He is the type of doctor who would have said " If it will ease your mind to have it done, then lets do it" or "Price wise it isnt bad". It is worth a shot... I dont think he would have told others the TRUTH about the test. That it isnt as great as they might think.

He wants owners to be calm and not make rash decisions. Most people would shudder and run away from a possible FIP cat, so he would want them to feel better in their decision to keep the cat. Whatever it takes to get them to keep an animal.

BUT I will say that he would not come out and say that the test is inaccurate, and has such a low accuracy rate. He would leave it up to the owner. AND most owners would do the test, just to get a false sense of security, ya know?

Just out of curiousity, did he say how the kittens (the ones he aborted) were developed? With her being so young, I was just curious. I am soooo glad she is doing well. I knew she would be okay. You are a great foster mom!

Abigail is doing GREAT! I think she must be the sweetest kitty in the entire world. She is eating well, still no poops though

And her babies had not grown since the last visit. She had to get a antibiotic shot, and has a pill to take tomorrow. Just incase infection was a possibility.

Thank you all for your thoughts, and prayers. YES EVEN YOU MELISSA! We both know how terrible your luck is :p But now I am glad you sent in secret prayers for Abbie. ;)

More updates tomorrow, WITH PICTURES :D

Ok, so I changed my mind. These are pictures from yesterday and the day before of Abbie. Hope you enjoy!

Please excuse my carpet in a few of these. It is hard to vaccum with hooligan kitties who are scared to death of loud noises!

Abigails bare belly, the same night of surgery:
