View Full Version : Bigger Avatars?

I'm just wondering if it were possible for us to have bigger AVs? On most of the forums that I attend, they are 125X125. Would it be a hassle to allow that? Maybe we could pay a small fee to have that? Just curious.

I personally like the smaller size - and it of course makes pages faster to load for dial-up connectors. I think it lets people's signature graphics have more impact than boards I have seen with the big icons.

That's just my opinion ...

I also like the small icons. They don't get in the away, like most do on other boards! :)

I think the small icons work well, especially given PT's proclivity for animated ones. Big animated avs can get super distracting.

I also think the avs should remain small because this board gives folks a TON of freedom with the sigs, and I really think that is more than enough to strike a balance.

I too like the smaller avatars, at least I don't think they should be bigger than 80x80.

I think even 80x80 would be nice.

Often times I want to use a photo of all 4 dogs in my avatar and NOT have it animated. However, reducing it to 60x60 you cant even tell what it is!

I don't really like animated avatars, so maybe if there's an option for larger, NON-animated avatars? I know a lot of boards allow 100x100 but they only allow non-animated avatars.

:o Is mine small enough?Yes, it is. :) If it weren't, you wouldn't have been able to put it on as an avatar. ;)

I think they're fine the size they are now.

I personally don't mind whatever size they are. ;)

Yes, and it is funny, too.

Currently, none of the animated avs that I have seen are anything I think crosses the line. I wasn't trying to call anyone here out. I am just saying that when a webpage is crammed with a ton of big, flashy gifs it can be a nightmare to read. It can also be headache-inducing!

I didn't want a big, flashy gif. Was just curious about maybe having a non moving pic a little bigger.

I wouldn't like to see them any bigger.

I hate scrolling through a thread and more then half of the page is avatars. While I love to see everybody's pets, it makes it a lot easy to scroll the thread when the pictures are smaller.

I would like it, but only if people followed the rules for signature size.

Smaller is better IMO.

Some days its like everyone is screaming for attention with their siggies and avatars. I don't need to express myself with an overwhelming abundance images myself... I guess I want my words to have more impact than my accompanying graphics.

This should do it! If you want me to do another one, you're welcome! :)

Most forums that allow bigger avatars have lots of restrictions for signatures. I prefer having small avatars and more freedom for doing siggies. I really like the 60x60 siz anyways.

I don't personally care, I don't think I have ever been distracted by anything like avatars or signatures or any of that. Make 'em big, keep 'em small, get rid of 'em all together, it's not what makes the site. But, that's just my opinion. I'll use the option if it's there, but above and beyond that, I don't think about it.
