Okay you critter experts...what was in my pool this morning?? It quite obviously enjoys swimming. He has been safely relocated to the creek down my street, hopefully no worse for the wear. He has webbed feet. Here are some pictures:

I'm fairly sure it's not a Knarp Rodent, so please spare me that.

I'm pretty sure thats a muskrat. We live by a huge canal, we have tons of them. I think their really cute! :D

looks like muskrat to me too, we have a bunch her by the ole Miss also! :)

Thanks guys, looks like it is a muskrat! (or a nutria)

He was really cute. My mom woke me up---JESSSS there is a critter in my pool! Help!!! Thought it was a rat at first-it was hiding in the skimmer. I've never seen a muskrat before. But we do have a lot of creeks and ponds in my neighborhood, so thats probably where he came from.

buttercup: you're right. Moles don't have tails. It doesn't look very big so I think it might be a young variety of whatever it is. The picture of the nutria looks pretty close. :)

Good thing the pet trade hasn't found them because they might just be too cute for their own good!
