And here are some pics of all my fish in the tank! And it was requested by a very nice Pter to show more pics of Queen and her Tank buddies, so I got all kinds of Queen and her Tank buddies. I'm sorry I never really showed them before, but today you will get to meet them:D

Hehe, as you can see, the smaller fish like following Queen. I guess cause she IS the Queen.;)

And here's the pics of her and her Tank buddies.

This is Bob, I think I've shown him before. His new favorite spot is behind the bubbles from the bubble maker. It must feel like a massage or something lol.

And this is Little Guy! I saved him from a friend who had too many fish in too little a tank, and he was slowly dying from the ammonia in the water. Now he is the happiest fish ever, and the smallest in the tank lol. Queen almost ate him at first cause he is so small, but just when she got close to him she stopped realized that he was actually a little goldfish.:) So if you think I have too many fish in my tank, please...don't get mad at me, this Little Guy is soo happy since I saved him.

I named him Little Guy.:D

This fella doesn't have a name yet, although I have had him for about a year now. I got this guy out of my bestfriends goldfish pond. He seemed happy to be in a tank that he can actually see the other fish in lol, and have food falling from heaven instead of having to find food lol.

http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/6144/nonamefeb1707jh8.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
So if anyone can think of a good name for him besides Pumpkin (because my friend's fish is already named that) it would be greatly appreciated.

http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/3213/seakingandmorefeb1707tg5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
And the other guy up top of the fish I just showed does not have a name either. He is suppose to be a Koi as to what Wal-mart said, but I think he has more Shubuncan in it than Koi.

I'm sure they are REALLY HAPPY!!! And I think that one is deffinately not a pure Shubuncan... mabey he's a mix of Shubuncan and koi??? But queen is defenately a queen and so she can steel a blue pebble :D . I really like the pic of SeaKing where it looks like he's posing with his fins ((I think it's the first one of him)).

Great pictures of all the tank buddies, Kalei! I love how they all follow Queen. In my mind I could just picture her as the leader of a mafia and they're all following their leader. :p

Beautiful tank setup. Are those real plants? I still can't believe Bob hasn't tried eating the goldfish yet. I hope Queen doesn't get any blue rocks stuck in her throat. I got rid off all my gravel years ago. I kinda miss the colors, but if I do a trop tank someday I'll be sure to get some pretty blue gravel again.

Thanks everyone for the great compliments! ^^ Only once and alwhile Bob tries to suckle on the side of Queen, but Queen has such a powerful tail, with one quick flick, Bob is off and gives up. lol, I have a very lazy algae eater. He does not do his job at all ever since I got him. When I first got him he wouldn't clean algae off anywhere, he even let himself get sooo skinny. So I finally fed him some algae pellets, that or else he was starving to death. So Bob now eats algae pellets and Goldfish pellets...he's a strange pleco lol.

And Queen pics up rocks and spits them out all the time. She's done this since I got her 2 and a half years ago now. Of all my life of having goldfish, I've never had any die from the gravel or choking. But I guess it's possible. Has yours ever died of the gravel before? Just wondering. Once again thanks everyone!:D

The plants aren't real. The really long ones are ones I made myself from plastic plants at a dollar store, and ones from petstores. I kind of did some cutting some reputting together and all that and made them! They sure are pretty.

What a great tank setup! I really enjoyes seeing the "before" and "after;" I bet there was a few hours work in between those 2 photos, ha ha.

I have blue gravel also, with a little white mixed in for variety.

Thanks for posting all these photos, and I am SO glad those 2 fishies have names now! :D

Thanks so much Beki!

And Freedom, you're right, that tank took me from 6:30 til 10:00 to be completely done. Lots of work, and filling it up took about 45 minutes itself lol. That's alot of water.

Oh, that's not good at all. I think my father just had that problem with his tropical fish, it was either white spots or ick, one of them anyways. Most of his died even though he was treating them, now there is only 1 guarami left, 1 tiger barb, and 1 pleco.

What a wonderful tank you have there! And i'm sure queen will be very happy moving the pebbles around the tank :)

Also, how are the little froggies doing? I'd love to see more pictures of the little guys :D

Me too I ALMOST forgot about them! Are you fattining them up?

Kalei
02-20-2007, 09:22 AM
Hey everyone, I'm really sad to say that both of the froggies died a just a day or two ago. I have no idea what went wrong (except the fact that wal-mart doesn't know how to look after them) but I fed them right and everything. One died sunk to the bottom with fungus growing on him, and the other just was floating dead. :(

I dont' think I'm going to bother with anymore smaller fish or frogs right now, have to look after my big tank, and also I am trying to raise Queen's babies. She had thousands of eggs a few days ago and I searched alot on how to raise goldfish from eggs, so I'm trying it:)

Yes, it does. They were all really skinny and kind of sickly looking. Thanks so much for caring:) Wish my good luck with the baby goldfish's. They should be hatching today or tomorrow :D I'm very excited:D

Queen usually has eggs a few days, once every six months.

Good luck with the fry. Do you know who the daddy is?

yay! A bunch of them have hatched!:D And I have so many plants in my 55 gallon and there is so many hundreds or thousands of eggs that I can't save even half of them. But I have a lot hatching in my other tank that I have a lot of plants with eggs on them in.

so far I keep looking into the 55 gallon and whenever I see a helpless little baby swimming around, I scoop it up gently with a cup and transfer it over to the baby tank. So far I've saved 7 from the big tank:D And I put liquid baby food in for them, a few of them are eating it. But alot of them are just laying around too, I'm guessing because they are tired out from hatching.

Well as to answer both of your questions, I believe the father is most likely Duke or Sir Knight. they both have tubercles on their gills, but so far I can't find any tubercles on SeaKing. So SeaKing might be a girl? I'm not sure. SeaKing has never layed eggs before so it could still be a male.

Oh and I had a question too...how warm should the tank be kept for the babies? I have a light on all the time to keep the water at a nice temperature for them. I read that baby goldfish survive better in slightly warmer weather. Is there any temp it should be? Thanks for the help!

Ok here are a list of web sites:

http://www.aquariumfish.net/catalog_pages/goldfish_and_koi/breeding_goldfish_p2.htm
I donno if this one will help but it won't hurt to check it out your self
Goldfish will eat their own eggs I found this on that page so.... UH OH!! lol

http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/universal-viewid376.html
I think this one will be pretty helpful((look around the bottom of the artical for the most helpful info))

http://www.goldfishinfo.com/spawn.htm
I think this may be the most helpful, for it tells who what to feed them when their how old

This is mainly for care of adult goldfish, but you should be able to find care about baby gold fish in the last three paragraphs, but mainly the last one

Good luck and hope this helps!! Keep us up dated!!

Congrats. 75F is good for the babies. They will grow a little faster and healthier in warm water. I now keep all of my goldfish at 78 as any illness shows up faster. Seaking might be a girl, it can take a while for some females to start laying eggs.

Kalei
02-20-2007, 05:02 PM
Hehe thanks so much everyone! My baby tank is anywhere between 75 and 78 so I'm doing good:D Thanks so much.

Also, I don't plan on keeping the babies just for the fact that there is the amount of fish that I should have in my 55 gallon now and it would be full if I put anymore fish in. And my dad won't let me have any more aquariums than my big one. He got a little annoyed tonight when he saw my baby tank lol. Oh well.

But I plan on growing the babies and see if any of my friends wants a couple (of course the friend must know how to look after fish) and also if I have lots that grow up, then I can put them all free in a nice pond of my friends. She has a goldfish pond which is where I got my Sir Knight goldfish from. Beki might want one too if she likes them.

Also I may see if the pet store would like them...although I'm not too fond of selling them to a petstore yet. I may not do that.

All in all I'm just going to hope they grow up big and healthy:D

Where do you think pet stores get there fish? They are all shipped because petstores don't take your own fish. Or at least my petsmart and petco doesn't. There is a lot of online fish stores that have to ship over night. I have a friend who only gets fish from the quality fish stores only, unfortuanly none are around here, so they have to be shipped.

Oh cool! Well I wasn't sure if they were shipped or not. There is one petstore close by me and the owner there is really good friends with me and give me great discounts. And she has taken fish from people before. But that's also because she is really nice and wants to help people. If I knew how to ship a fish in one day safely I wouldn't mind doing it. I would just be afraid of the bag breaking on the way.

Local stores usually buy fish from people, but chain store like petco and petsmart do not. It is against their policy. Fish are often shipped. A few people on here have gotten bettas. I'd love to be able to afford some of the $300 goldfish on fishsempai which would be shipped. Goldfish have quite a few more shipping regulations when coming into the country than others because they can spread disease and people like to release them. If you were able to ship them to Florida, you would not want to claim them as goldfish. Any other legal fish would be ok. You'd want to ship the fish in a bag and the bag would be inside a styrofoam cooler so it would be safer. I've never shipped an animal though.

Wow! That's so cool! We're twins! Just kidding lol.

So the babies are all eating great and everything, but because of the liquid food the water is seriously foggy. does anybody know if I should change some water and add new water? And how many times should I do this. I'ts going to be hard doing it without getting a baby, but I know I can.

Originally I filled the baby tank with the 55 gallons water so that the water wasn't new. Should I once and awhile change the water from the 55 gallon?

And do the babies need oxygen? Should I put a bubble maker in there? lol sorry for all the questions. Thanks for the positive thoughts guys! You all are awesome!:D

Yes, change the water often, some people do daily changes. Be sure the new water is the same temp and is dechlorinated. No need to use the water from te 55 gallon, there is nothing beneficial in that water and there will be less oxygen in the used water. A sponge filter would be good as it won't suck up the babies. Its basically a sponge padding that goes around the air stone from the bubbler.

Thanks!:D Today at lunch I went home and changed the water for my fishies, and they look fine so far. I'm at work so I really don't know until I get home. But alot more are moving around now. There had to be at least 10 in there that were up by the top eating and what not. It's so cute. And man is it hard and annoying to try and take water out without getting a fishy lol, but I was patient and didn't get any little fishy while I changed the water:) I haven't got any bubble or filter in yet, but tonight I should be able to get a sponge filter and/or bubble maker at wal-mart or Pets Unlimited.

I really hope I can keep this up!:D It's exciting, and I already have a man I know wanting a couple once they are big. He wants a couple goldfish that will grow big and if they are from Queen then they will most likely grow big like her.

I was wondering, are fry hard to keep alive?

At a young age fry can be fragile. But with the care you are putting in I'd expect a 75% survival rate, which is the high end. I can't keep anything under 2-3 months alive at all right now because with college and such I can only give them minimal care.

Oh...yes college certainly takes lots of time and attention to the studies. Well I hope you're right about my fishies surviving!:D I'm trying my best to make sure they live. And it says to feed them quite a few times a day, so i have been. I figure that those little fish need alot to eat to grow.

I'll definatley be posting pics maybe tomrrow:D The tank isn't really anything to look at though, I don't have rocks in it, just the clear bottom, that way I can see the babies much better and their are just a few plants floating because those were the plants the eggs had been attached too. But I got the bubbler in their now so they are getting lots of oxygen!:D And I will definately change the water everyday.
