Okay, this post has nothing to do with pets, but I'm pretty excited about it! My Mom is going to have a boy on November 11th, 2002! AND I GOT MY DRIVER'S PERMIT THIS MORNING! Yay!

Congratulations on both pieces of news, Meg. I am happy for you. At what age can you start to take driving lessons in the US?

When you're 15 years of age you can get your permit and start driving! But I took Driver's Education before I got my permit and you have to fill out a student driver permit because not everyone has their legal permit.

WOW! You have to be at least 17 years old before they even let you near a car in the UK. Personally I think you should be older but I suppose I am on the wrong forum for that issue.

GOOD LUCK ANYWAY!

Heather, but with a permit you can only drive with your parents or legal gaurdian. If you don't, you get in BIG TROUBLE! Then at 16 you get your Intermediate License, which is the same as a regular license except you can't drive between 1:00-5:00 AM. Then when you're 18 you get your Full License.

Congrat's on getting your driving permit, that is just so cool. I think your folks will really aprpeciate it when they no longer have to drive you around.

And in addition, a new baby too.....you must be flying high! You'll be a great big sister!

Yeah i never knew youcould get your permit at the age of 14?!?! Half of my friends can't even operate a PWC [which is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier then a car] I would never trust myself nor any of my 14 year old friend behind the wheel.. i ave a hard time even trusting my brother and hes 21!!

BRING ON THE LICENSE! WAA HOO. No I think I am to young to drive, although I would love to. But I am more then happy to wait. My mom can drive me everywhere  . O joy. Hee hee. I also think 16 is to young but I don't think you actually get your license now till your 17. So that is cool. Now I think 18 is to old. But that is just my opinion.

KFMAR- Some of my "friends" drive (illegelly), they are pretty good drivers and they are only 14 and 15.

Congrats!!

I too find the US laws about driver's license to be dumb, but oh well...
