We received at least 10 inches of snow between Tuesday and Wednesday. The wind kept blowing it around so it made for very uneven snowdrifts which makes it much harder to decide the exact amount. Carl works in Toledo about 50 miles from here so he went to Amy's (Cincy's Mom) to stay while I stayed at home. Here are some of the pictures I took.

How does an old lady get that much snow off her driveway?

Relies on the kindness of good neighbors who have snowblowers

And how did the dogs do with the snow?

The way the snow was blowing left an area in the back yard that was only about an inch deep for the first 2 1/2 feet outside the back yard. Thank God! I don't know what I would have done if the back yard was like the front where I couldn't even open the front door.

Jack abolutely doesn't like snow or cold so he was in and out so fast that I couldn't get any pictures of him!

That is crazy.

Excuse my ignorance (Florida girl here) but where do you shovel the snow to?

Staci, I was shocked but none of them rolled in it. I think they are all getting too old! Pippi tried chasing them around the yard but she couldn't get anyone going. And she was too fast for me to catch any pictures of her. She started running in circles by herself. It was too funny!

You put it on a HUGE pile somewhere near your driveway, out of your way so it can sit there till it melts in the Spring! :D

My hubby and I shoveled 18'' out of our driveway yesterday... the snowpile is over the mailbox!

Wow! We certainly didn't get that much here. Maybe 4 inches, but some of the drifts were about a foot. :D

Looks like the pups had fun!

She's 5 1/2 and while this isn't a pic of the most recent snow - that will have to wait till the weekend this is one from a couple weeks ago....

See the drift in front of the boy? You just keep adding it wherever you can!

And by the way, this is a really heavy snow so it is quite heavy to move. It is also so cold that it tends to want to come up in big blocks which is again way heavy. Sometimes snow is lighter and wetter and easier to shovel. Lifting this heavy snow is one reason older people up this way sometimes have heart attacks in the winter. It is a very aerobic excercise and really gets your heart rate up there!

Thanks for the info. I thought you might just pile it up somewhere but I wasn't sure. I would be lost up there. ;)

LOL Just be thankful you aren't in parts of New York. Some places got snow squalls up to 12 feet

We got quite the storm here yesterday and Tuesday. but I can't tell you how deep because then we got freezing rain and the snow is solid now... even I don't fall through.

Haha... the fields here got 32 inches. You should see the height of the drifts... It's been killer windy. We can't open the doors on one side of the house. :P

Looks like the pups had fun at least! :p :D

yeah, we've been keeping an eye on that part of New York. My daughter, Christy (Dakotas mommy) will be moving to Fort Drum New York sometime during this next year - Her husband Brian has to be there March 10. It hasn't got quite as much - 37 inches the last time I looked - however - you have to drive near that 12 feet of snow. I don't think she will be getting much winter company!!! See you in the Spring, Kiddo, is what we will be saying!

Wow, it looks wonderful! I'd love to have that amount of snow here, just for a day or two, though. ;) A few years back, we had that much snow - Pjevs could hardly get out of his house, so I went to showel. Use a huge wooden light weight showel, it's so much easier. :)

Have fun! :D

Yep, looks like that here too. We got to the store yesterday and the moron that was supposed to plow the parking lot didn't do it. I decided to brave it and would have been fine had I not started to slide...I got stuck in a 4' drift! Mike was NOT amused! He had to dig me out. We finally found a kind soul who came with his truck and plowed us out. Business has sucked the last 3 days because of the snow. Tonight we have a wind chill advisory, so I will probably have a delay again tomorrow because of cold. Hey, why not...the week was already shot anyway. We were closed for 2 days with a 2 hour delay this morning.

I heard that Syracuse, NY got something like 135 inches of snow in 7 days. Whew! That's a lot of snow...the amazing thing was that their schools were only closed for 1 day!

The snow plow went by during ballet yesterday. We used the 4X4, three quarter ton, crew cab "monster machine" (aka "The Truck") to pull two people out of 5 foot deep snow... REALLY thick snow... they were stuck right in!!! Haha... Northern Quebec makes ya good at that sort of thing. :p

alex LOVES snow, must be husky somewhere in his mix, princess peanut is way unhappy, zips out, does her business then wants back in NOW!!!!!the look of horror on her face the first am when we'd gotten 4 inches was great. alex plays like a puppy again, running thru, making tunnels with his nose.
