I'm installing a new burner and I'm having a bit of trouble. I was supposed to install it with the disk before putting the burner in -- but my driver was broken and wouldn't take disks anymore. So now I have an uninstalled burner in my computer and the computer doesn't recognise it.

So I'm trying to find a free LG DVD Writer Solution download on the internet. If anyone can find one, that would be awesome, as I just can't seem to find one, myself.

Thanks in advance. :)

I can find you a driver, but I need the model/maker of the burner. I am assuming it's LG? ;)

You need the model number, which probably is NOT the name on the box.

Thanks guys, the model number is GSA-H22L, atleast that is what it says. The only thing I was able to download off the LG site was an adobe write-up about the product --they didn't have the writer download itself. :(

did you try going into the bios and autodetecting all drives. We had to do this when we installed our new burner. And if I am not mistaken it is the same model as yours. We too could not run off the disk. Once we did the autodetect the bios found and and we saved the settings are rebooted. We then installed the driver and stuff from there.

I don't understand what that means -- can you give me a bit of a description so I know what to do? :) If it has anything to do with my last driver, it won't work -- it was completely toast -- pieces missing, etc.

I googled the model -- is this the LG Lightscribe DVD burner?

If it is, i think my BF has the same one, i can prolly pull the drivers from teh CD if thats the case.

EDIT: Also, is this the external model that you plug into your computer using a USB port or something, or is this the internal model that you had to open up your computer case and install in an empty drive bay?

Yup, it's a LightScribe 18x, and it's an internal one. :)

I'll see what I can find for you

In the meantime, do you still have the original installation CD and manual that came with this product? Did you install it yourself, or have someone put it in for you?

Edit: Oops ... i see what you mean - you dont have an installed CD Rom drive to recognize the disk, therefore yuo can't install the Drivers for the CD-Rom Drive ... d'oh.
