Saw this thread and knew the PTers would love it.

How cool! It's interesting that the DNA shows the lack of male "input", yet the brood are not identical to their mother. If only the mothers DNA was used, I'd assume that the DNA would be identical to her. Hopefully this will allow them to help the species survive even if it is in captivity.

Actually it's not uncommon for some lizards to do this. I guess it's just never been recorded in Komodo Dragons before. Pretty cool though, eh? :D

I agree, I knew turtles and certain better known lizards did this. Just kinda hit me as a really neat thing to happen with such an amzing and barely studied animal. :)
