Well we got another dump of snow so hubby took Dedrick and Luca out to play. Dedrick wanted to ride in his sled so hubby pulled him around till he was puffing. And Dedrick still wanted to go. So we decided it was about time that Luca learned how to pull a sled. So we got out the harness and hooked him up. I was prepared for him to back up or race ahead or jump around. Most dogs the first time in harness, that I have trained, did this the very first time when they felt they were pulling something. Even Sheena took a day to get used to having something behind her. So I was in for a complete shock when Luca did none of these. We brought him over and put teh harness on him:

He sat nicely between the lines as we got everything on(not normal for this bouncy boy). So then I stepped forward bracing myself for some antics, that never came!!! Luca stepped up nicely and stayed besided me even when the lines got tight and he felt the weight. He never reacted at all. NOTHING. He acted like he had been doing this for years. He acted like their was no weight in the sled(Dedrick was in it). He is his second turn around the yard:

After a few more passes of the yard with no playful reaction from Luca we decided to take him out of the yard and walk up and down in front of the house on the side walk. He left the yard with his tail up and wagging and a jaunty step to his stride.

Nothing phased him. No stopping and starting, no racing or pulling, no jumping to the side or refusing to go forward. No Problems at all. And he loved it. He had a blast doing it. We only when up and down a few times and then back to the yard when I took of his harness. He sat perfectly as I did it. When it was off he raced to give Dedrick a lick and they around the yard he race. He did 3 laps of teh yard then grabbed his soccar ball and raced around some more. Not teh least bit winded or tired from the pulling. And when hubby held up teh harness he came running and sat in front of him waiting for it to be put on with his tail sweaping the snow in back of him. I think we found a new hobby for Luca. lol He had so much fun and so did Dedrick.

Great pictures! I bet Dedrick had lots of fun. When I was really young, my parents used to let one of our past dogs do that too. She loved it, and so did my brother and I. :)

Aw, it sounds like Luca was wondering what took you so long to ask him to do that. :D Good boy, Luca. I agree with Terri, it looks very cold up there.

Thanks all. A friend mentioned maybe doing weight pull with him once he is matured and conditioned properly. Hubby likes the idea and might give it a try when Luca is around 3 yrs old.
