I was told years ago a duck doesnt echo because the actual sound doesnt have any of the overtones- ( ie nothing off a bflat ( machines) or a C over tones.. Its also the only thing that makes a lack of overtones..

These ones were both tested by the Mythbusters --
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MythBusters

Does a Duck's Quack Echo?
This myth originated in lists of "Random Facts" distributed over the internet.
A duck's quack does not echo.
Busted
When examined by an audio-expert, it was found that the echo was "swallowed" by the original quack, due to the very similar acoustic structure between the quack and the echo. Because of this, it may be difficult to tell where the quack ends and the echo begins. (This was also tested in the British show: Brainiac: Science Abuse)

Toothbrush Surprise
Fecal coliforms bacteria can grow in toothbrush bristles.
Partly Confirmed
Fecal coliforms were indeed found on all the test brushes, including the control ones. However, none were of a level high enough to be dangerous, and experts confirm that such coliforms were impossible to completely avoid.
I remember watching this show, and they built a really complicated rack in the bathroom to hold a bunch of toothbrushes, and then used two of their own for a month to test. Also, they put 2 clean toothbrushes under glass in the kitchen far away from the bathroom as well. All brushes showed coliforms, even the ones in the kitchen that had no contact with the bathroom!

I knew this one!!! I finally this month found a nice ENCLOSED toothbrush holder! Usually they are open with just the slots for the brushes! I have looked and looked and found a nice brushed chrome one with a hinged lid! I even got it on sale at Kohl's!!! I LOVE IT! Until I found this, I always kept mine as far from the toilet as possible, and always flush with the lid down! ;)
