I have noticed that Dharma, my 3-4 month old Lab/Doberman cross pup has never "smiled". You know, that open mouthed, breathy, toothy thing we call a smile! In fact I notice that when she is running she rarely opens her mouth at all like my other dogs do. Is this a learned behaviour? Do all puppies and dogs smile? She is SO serious looking! I would love to see her looking happy, I'm fairly sure she is!

Under the heading "Today's Dog" you will find a topic "Do Dogs Smile". It is not too far down and a "flaming" topic. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif. Check it out. I think you will find some very interesting (and as always opinionated - ha) posts. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/tongue.gif

Don't forget that the smile is a human measure of happiness, not a canine one! Dogs don't have to smile to be happy!
