In Jenny's front and back legs, mainly back, you can see her veins. Now I was wondering (mostly out of curiosity) if all dogs are like this? I've never really looked at any dogs ( other then Jenny's) back legs this closely.

Thanks :)

Yes, it's fine to be able to see their veins. And even your vet will love them for it! The fatter the dog, the less veins are visible. And greyhounds have the BEST veins for drawing blood.

Oh, good, I was scared I was starving her or something.

Well isn't it true Greyhounds have rather thin skin anyway? Maybe that's why Jenny's veins are more visible.

Yes, that's right. I like to joke about how my dog is basically inside out. You can count her ribs, a few of her backbones, poke all her veins, her flimsy flaps of skin, and who can forget those incredible muscles. A lot of vets love greys for these reasons - makes a greyt anatomy lesson!

Their skin is so thin actually that light shines through

Of course, it'd be considerably easier to see their veins this way.

You can see the veins on my dogs as well especially if they are wet. There is little body fat on the dogs- and the veins are obviously near the top on the bone. As you know, its also the same reason why sighthounds are not tolerate of children falling on them- IT HURTS! Like hittie your funny bone..

That's normal. That particular vein is really noticeable in a lot of dogs, especially pitties, short-haired hounds/gun dogs, etc.

I think with greyhounds their legs are so thin they stick out like that.
With my greyhound it always freaked me out a bit b/c I was thinking what if she cut one and started bleeding?
It probably depends on breed and hair amount.

Oh yeah, I notice the veins show on most dogs, they do sometimes on Belle.
