What kinds of foods do you eat/serve/cook for the holidays?

Desxriptisns?
Do you cook them?
Ingredients?

-----------------

We eat menudo-tripe soup, not the boy band :p  :D
It's made of cow stomach lining, hominy and chili powder!

Tamales.

two kinds......sweet or meat....
It's meat wrapped in corn meal, wrapped in a corn husk and steamed.

The fillings are made cooked chicken, beef or pork, in a chile sauce with olives

The sweet tamales are made with nuts or fruit.

Each country has a different spin on the recipe/preparation....some countries
use banana leaves to wrap the tamale instead of a corn husk.

Atole.(ah Toe lee)
Is a sweet drink made of corn starch, In coconut, strawberry, chocolate and walnut flavors.

Pan dulce-sweet breads...sweet bread is made all year long but, with a hot cup of atole, on a cold night cannot be beat...

I have made menudo before....tamales once and atole all the time...sweet bread is way too technical and beautiful for me to try...

what are your holiday tables topped with?

LOL Max and Fancy Feast :D :D :p
Richard, email me that tripe soup recipe. Sounds wonderful. I love tripe.

I'm usually over at my sil's place and she whips up the full turkey dinner like nobody's business. This year it's different. She's making a ham. Don't ask me how she does it but I know it will be delicious.

when we were kids my mom made the most wonderful chocolate pudding cake, just full of gooey, warm goodness. she only made it for christmas, both my baby brother and i have declared it our favorite holiday food memory.
today i'll make roast pork with orange cranberry relish, mashed potatoes with butter, green bean casserole, maple glazed carrotts, rolls and coconut pudding for dessert. but first, a long walk with the dogs to work off this mornings eggnog cinnamon french toast, sausage and coffee breakfast.
enjoy the joy of the day! and i'ts just food, nothing more.

We have smoked salmon as a starter and veal escalopes with a sauce of cream and mushrooms and white wine and green asparagus as a side dish and of course I make it myself ;)

This is in no way classical but it's only the two of us and my mom and I wanted something not too heavy.

My sister baked 15 different Christmas cookies (can you believe it- I was baking one full weekend last year and only head 7 different kinds) and sent them to us so you can have them in between - we will not be starving ;)
