Typhoon, my betta, has been sick. His eye is popped out and I treated him twice for pop eye, but I don't think that's what it is anymore. His eye is completely clear, just big.

He's swimming and eating. I keep his tank clean. I use fresh water salt and water conditioner. I don't know what else to do for him.

I think he might be getting old. Poor guy. Please pray for Typhoon.

He's still hanging in there. I wish there was something I could do for him. He had almost no color Sunday and yesterday he had a bit more color. It's clear it's his time to go. I hope he goes soon. I don't want him to suffer. I am treating him with Pimafix (I think that's what it's called. I'm at work and can't check.) It's a natural remedy for bacteral infections. It's gentile on him, so I thought I'd give it a try although, to be honest, I'm not to hopeful.

Please pray that he gets better or that his trip to the RB is smooth. :(

My poor guy is still hanging in there. I actually think he looks much better than he did on Sunday, but his eye is still popped out. I haven't seen him eat, but I'm really going to watch him tonight to see if he eats anything. Maybe even try to give him some blood worms.

Well it sounds like he might get better if he eats. but you said a few times he's old and sort of wish he would just go and be out of his missery. It sucks but sometimes we have to make a choice for our pets sake. For a mammal this is getting a shot from the vet for fish a trip to the vet would only be needed if you want someone else to do it for you. If you really think he needs to be out of his missery here is a site on euthanizing fish.

Thanks for the tips. I think that helping a suffering animal to die is one of the best things we can do for our pets, however, Typhoon is swimming and acting better. If it gets to euthanasia I will have to do what I have to do. :(

He's still kicking, well actually swimming a lot more, but I have not seen him eat in days. He was always a big big eater. This is the strongest betta I've ever seen. I think he's fighting. Yesterday was the end of his treatment, so I can change about half his water today. I hope that makes some difference.

I never knew I could get so attached to a betta, but then again I've very attached to my other fish. They even get gifts for Christmas.

I really hope little Typhoon gets better soon. Bettas sometimes fight hard for their life, which is good! He knows he has a good reason to live:) We'll keep on praying for him! Keep us updated.

You can euthanize a fish?

This guy is unbelievable! He's eating and swimming normally. His eye is a bit swelled still, but looks much better. I can tell he's getting old, but I guess he's not ready to give up now. I don't think he had pop eye anymore. The pop eye meds didn't do anything. The pimafix is what really helped him. I think the eye swelling was a secondary infection.

The only thing he's doing that is keeping me worried is when he does his normal betta laying on the bottom he leans a bit. I think that might be because he is compensating for his eye that is still swelled.

Thank you so much for all the well wishes and PT prayers. I have NEVER had a fish this close to death and then pull through! :)

Wow! That is so great that your betta is much better! I know what you mean, usually once a fish is sick, there is just no getting better. But little Typhoon seems to have pulled through! I'm so happy for you and him! Give him an extra bloodworm for me!:D
