M.E kept scratching all over herself about a week ago. At first I thought she was just being silly, had an itch. But then she started acting really funny. Like sleeping in one of the cat pans, or on my dresser. Also she was pulling her hair out in clumps, and actually scratching until she was bleeding.
I called to make her an appointment.
The first available one was today, so I took it. I bathed her about 4 days ago with aloe and oatmeal shampoo. That was all I could do until she could be seen. (I tried my 3 regular vets, but everyone was booked solid )
So today she was seen. She has Severe allergies and kitty acne. She got a depo shot and her yearly shots were due on 11-16-06 so I got those as well. Her fever was 104.5 (from stress I think) She is now at home and feeling really bad and weak.
Please everyone pray for her that this gets better, so she is not all itchy and stressed out and feels better soon. I know it is not life threatening, But it still makes you feel bad for her knowing she is miserable. :(

Here are a few pictures of her from last week:

Before her bath..

Now the rest are after her bath, if you look closely you can see all the scabs and open wounds....

Yes, even when we know it is not life threatening, we feel sad when they feel badly!

You didn't mention how old she is. Or whether anything will be done to identify what is causing the allergic reaction?

The good news is that it is NOT life threatening. I hope the first treatment tried will be the one that works and that she feels better and back to her old self in no time!

Thank you for your comment. M.E is one year and 2 months old.
Dr. Smith said it could be one of MANY things causing these reactions. First No more petmate water fountain and petmate food station. No Plastic whatsoever.
And then if that does not work, we will have to put her on special food, because I feed Science diet indoor hairball control, Royal Canin, Science diet original, and Nutro Natural choice Lamb and rice ( Picky eaters ). She thinks it could be too high in fiber for her. We will see... But she has to go back for another depo shot in 1 month from today (if it does not get worse before then)

Poor kitty!!:( I know when I told my vet that I fed my cat Nutro, he told me to be very careful, becuase he has seen many cats with allergic reactions to it! My last kitty cinnamon had a reaction to it! I no longer feed nutro for that reason alone.

POOR BABY! That poor miserable face made my eyes fill with tears. She looked so uncomfortable and miserable.......... and not at all happy at the bath and being wet. Did the baths give her any relief at all? Poor baby! My heart just goes out to her.. I would go on now and change that food.. I would eleminate ANY possiability and then re-introduce things to find the culprit gradually..

Poor M.E.:( I hope that the depo shot will work and that she'll stop being so itchy. Some of my cats still get feline acne and I feed them out of stainless steel dishes and they drink out of stainless dishes too. My Pearl has also been breaking out on her lip and she got a steriod shot for this. I know it's not life threatening but I always feel so sorry for them.:(

Poor M.E. I really hope you start to feel better soon. I have had acne myself and it's no fun as a human either! :(
Jack has acne on his chin, but is doing well with aloe vera wipes and his hair is growing back now, also no plastic dishes or anything, just nice China ones.

Get well soon M.E

I'm really surprised your vet gave her depo, AND vaccinations together at the same time as your kitty having 104.5 degree temperature!

Aww poor M.E. She looks miserable, especially after her bath. No plastic here; ceramic dishes all around and even with that Mishi sometimes gets kitty acne.

Yes I agree.. I did not think they did both together. But she assured me that it was fine. (I also worked at vets for a few years). But never did we do rabies and depo together.

M.E is doing better now. I went and bought 4 new metal dishes and put away the old ones. I will donate them to the no kill shelter.

Also, I have to feed Billy the Nutro lamb and rice, because he has digestive upset... It is the only food that he can keep down. But M.E. usually only eats the Science Diet Indoor Hairball formula.

Thank you all for the nice comments, and M.E will get her kisses from all :D

Every vet I've had has refused to give Kat a vaccines unless her temperature was normal. That sucked for awhile trying to get it normal then they figured out she had a naturaly high temp and long as it's normal for her and under X degrees then it's okay.

Awww poor M.E., she looks miserable! Hopefully the dish change will help and she wont feel as itchy soon. *gentle pets* for the sick kitty.
