Here are 2 of my kitties. These are recent photos - within the last 3 weeks.

Ruffles is about 15. I bought a 3 tiered cat tree for up at Dad's house. They had a few scratchers, but nothing tall. And at least 2 like to stretch up and scratch, and all cats like to be up high. I chose this one because of the tiers, hoping that Ruffles may get into the first level (at 15, she likes ramps and stairs but not jumps). After 5 weeks, this was the first time she went in the lower level herself, and she stayed and slept a while.

Cuddles is about 3yrs, 4 months. She has lived with us 1 years 4 months. She is the one I got from the shelter who was abused and doesn't trust humans. Lived at the shelter for 18 months and, at 2 years old was about to be PTS. She makes progress, at her own pace. It is agonizingly slow!

I took this photo while she was asleep on my bed. Needless to say, she did NOT appreciate being woken from an all important cat nap!

This photo was taken another time. Sparkle had to move and jump off the bed and get her back in the picture.

After Sparkle left, Cuddles was ready to pose again.

I've been told Cuddles is a "dilute tortoiseshell." I don't know what that means. Is it the white that makes her coloring "dilute?" Or is it because she is gray not black? Anyone who knows, just pipe up with an answer! Thanks. Sandra

Gray, not black; and the beige instead of a brighter orange.

She is lovely, and looks to eat well :)

Ruffles reminds me of my Annabelle, who lived to the ripe old age of 17. Thanks for sharing.

They're both gorgeous cats.:) I think that Cuddles looks more like a tortie than a dilute calico.

Here's a website that explains it more:Calico Cats (http://absolutelycats.tripod.com/22Calico.html).:)

Your babies are so pretty!! I had a black persian named Ruffles. I named her that because she was so easily upset, like the old saying "don't ruffles my feathers!" (one my Mama use to use) Being persian she needed grooming and she wanted not part of it and fought like a tiger.

Your Ruffles is so lovely and so are your other babies.

We put a ramp on the cat perch we made for my babies for Amy but she refuses to use it, another one of her "I'd rather do it myself like everybody else does it"....

Ruffles is absolutely gorgeous. :)

I am so, so happy to hear that you rescued Cuddles out of the shelter. No animal should have to spend 18 months living in a cage. That is just too sad.
I'm sure she will come around in her own time. But she certainly looks like she has that "Tortie attitude." :D

Lovely cats! Bless you for taking Cuddles from the shelter. She is, at her own rate, getting used to the idea that she is safe and warm and well-fed and loved now.

Both your babies are totally adorable!

From what I understand, because Cuddles has the white, she would be a "dilute tortie on white." Peanut is considered a tortie on white because she's not dilute. And yes, what Grace said is what makes her dilute. No matter what you call her, she sure is adorable and I'm so glad you saved her. :)

What Gorgeous kitties! Thank you and bless you for adopting a hard to place kitty from the shelter. She may never become a love bug but she will learn to trust you. Even if she never finds a way to show you her gratitude please know that she knows you did something wonderful for her. Some cats can never get over the abandonment of their past but you will always know that you saved her life. She sure is pretty to look at! :)
