I just called and spoke to Dugan's Dad, a.k.a. Tim, Corinna's husband.

I told him how much she meant to all of us, individually and as a community. He's coping fine for now, as a firefighter, he has been through this kind of thing with others, just never expected it to hit at home.

They had discussed things, in the 'some day' tone we use, and Corinna wanted things handled with humor, and celebration, which surprises us not at all.

Tim promised to let us know about funeral arrangements and all, and to keep us updated. He said the animals all know something is up, especially Tyson.

I am shocked and saddened beyond belief :( She was always so good to me and I never returned the favor. I've gotten several cards and postcards from her. I am so sorry to hear this. I hope she knows how much she was appreciated by me. She was one of the most thoughtful people I know here. Duke is still enjoying his dog bed and Doogie his. Our dear, beautiful Corinna...its not fair that she be taken from us (nor Tim) yet. Its just not fair. Our world needs people like Corinna to brighten our days and make us smile. God must have needed some loveliness in heaven...

Corinna knitted me a gorgeous, PINK head/neck band for which I will treasure and cherish even more greatly.

Godspeed, Corinna. You are a beloved part of Pet Talk and you'll be missed more than any of us can convey. :(

I'm happy to learn you went in your sleep, hopefully dreaming of your Tim and your furangels.

Tim I am so sorry for your loss and your family - and that sweet new grandbaby that she was so excited for will never get to know her. My heart hurts for all of you.

I want to say that while devastating this thread is exactly what being a PetTalker is about - everyone has come together - no matter what your pet to support a fallen member and her family. Corrina was the definition of a Pet Talker.
GodBless and Godspeed Corrina - you will be sadly missed.

Tim, I'm so sorry to hear Corinna has passed away, it's even a bigger shock that it was so sudden. :( I lost my husband in feb. 2005 much the same way. I hope it will be a comfort to you and the family, that she didn't suffer.

Although I didn't know Corinna that well, I read most of her posts, she seemed a really nice person. I'm glad that she had such fun making the 4 generation photos. We all enjoyed seeing those. :) Corinna was very loved and respected here, and she will always be remembered.

Dear Corinna, rest in Peace!

Tim, you are welcome to PM me if I can help with anything.

Tim and family,
Let me join the large list of people to express my deepest sympathies for your loss. Corrina was one of the sweetest people here on PT. I remember very well the lovely quilt she put together for me, with help from other PT'ers, on the birth of my son. Probably even more significantly was the random gifts I would recieve from her, to be passed on to my sweet niece, when she got sick. Truly, earth has lost an angel. I cannot imagine the depth of your sorrow right now, as the loss of Corrina has touched me deeply, and I only knew her in the most casual of ways. I am so saddened by this news. Take care.

Love,
Johanna

Im completly in shock. :(

Im so sorry. I never realy knew Corinna but I always saw her posts around the forum and she was always nice and friendy.

Im so sorry for this loss in your family, this is also a great loss in PT!

I know she's alright, she's just passing over the rainbow probably smiling at what a wounderful life she had, she was loved dearly but it was her time to go and leave this troubled earth.

Here is a little somthing I made for her.

Up to the rainbow, past all the creatures she steps to the golden gates,

She smiles down and thanks everyone for there most sympathy and fate,

Those golden gates of heaven open ever so mighty and strong,

Then she steps in and tears of joy follow her face towards the starlight dawn,

There she'll be waiting, yes just waiting for us all!!!

Rest in peace dear Corinna, we shall miss you greatly! :(

Last night Slick and I were on the phone and we lit candles in Corinna's honor and I said a prayer to God to keep her family in His hands...and to help Corinna to heaven safely and peacefully.

Its unfair we have to loose such an amazing person, who defined who and what a Pet Talker is...but also who a Godly person should be. She always had a kind word and lent a shoulder to cry on. She was fun and sweet and just plain wonderful.

The world has lost one of its best. :(

Corinna, we'll all remember you in the most precious place in our hearts.

May we all meet again on the other side. That time we can hug and talk and enjoy each other.

This is a reminder to live fully every moment you are here and to never take one moment for granted. Always let people know what they mean to you. It is so hard to lose someone so quickly, and, completely out of nowhere. I don't even know what to say except to say that I will try even harder to celebrate life, because although I didn't know Corinna all that well, I could tell she lived her life with love and laughter. It's so obvious by all the posts here that Corinna was a very treasured member of PT. To say she was kind and caring is really an understatement.

We corresponded several times, and she sent me cards after Tubby died and after my surgery - all unexpected on my part. She took it upon herself to spread her thoughtfulness everywhere.

I'm so glad she had such a fun day taking the "old-fashioned" pics. What a wonderful day for her daughter to cherish and retell to her granddaughter.

Tim, our thoughts are with you at this very difficult time. Corinna will be as missed here on PT as she will be at home. :(

I just got an update from Tim.
********
The services will be held on Sat. Nov. 11 at 1:00pm at the Assembly
of God Church, 738 3rd Ave W., Columbia Falls, MT 59912. Cards can
be sent to PO Box 175, Columbia Falls, MT 59912.

Clarissa (Corinna's daughter) was wondering about if people could send stories or such about their experiences with Corinna that she could put in a booklet for Charity Jean so that she could get to know her Grandma when she is older.

We just got the report from the coroner that states cause of death a severe heart disease. She had 3 plugged arteries and had evidence of a previous heart attack (unknown to us) and had a heart attack within 2-3 hours before time of death (which was estimated at 3-5am.)

Thank you for your support.

I bet she would have loved it if we found the local Newfie or Boxer rescue.
Or even the local Humane Society.
Another thing is the local library. Dedicate some books pertaining to animals in her name. My friends did this for me when my grandpa died and it means the world to me. And I have done it for a couple friends who have lost their fathers. You can tell them you would like it to be a dog book or something. One of my friends dad's loved horses and I had them do a horse related book.

I think the idea of sending donations to a Newfie or Boxer rescue is wonderful. Or maybe in Springer Spaniel rescue, in her and Merlin's honor? The shelter/rescue she got Dugan from, maybe?

I certainly cannot get her off my mind. A while back she sent me a bunch of dog figurines/ceramics. Some were from then she was a little girl. She said she wanted someone to have them that she knew would love them. They've been on my "dog shelves" since then, right above where I'm typing now. I keep looking up at them.

She was a very special Pet Talker in my heart and will be sorely missed. Certainly not forgotten but it will not be the same here without her.

She sent me this e-mail on October 28th -
"I wanted to let you know how much you mean to me and your kids . the bandanas i sent were some of Merlins . Ty doesn't care for them but I knew yours would. corinna"

I believe she was talking about the bandanas we received in Kiara's welcome home package.
The fact that she thought so dearly of myself and my three means so much to me, as I felt the same about her and her three dogs.

I'm in tears again..
I'm so sorry Tim, and the rest of Corinna's family. If it hurts those of us who are miles and miles away, I cannot imagine how you all feel.

I was telling my mother about Corinna's passing and it gave her goosebumps. My mother is the same age and it's such a young age still.

You are now reunited with your heart dog, Merlin...

After the total shock of this news, that was what came to my mind as well. I have read each post in this thread, and it is evident how many people Corinna has touched here at Pet Talk. She has been with us from almost the beginning...a true pillar in every sense of the word and this community will be missing a committed and caring person who was the true essence of what Pet Talk is all about.

To all of Corinna's family, I am so sorry for your loss. The magnitude of what you are going through is more than I can wrap my mind around. May the God who led Corinna home be with you and bring you peace.

I keep thinking of Corinna as well, the last pm I had in my inbox that day was from her. :( She was always so willing to help everyone out, I believe she sent something each time we had to do make-up packages for the gift swap. A good person is someone who is giving of themselves and that was Corinna.

I'm sure Merlin was waiting for her and is happy to see her...the rest of us will all sorely miss her. :( My prayers are with her family always.

Thank You for ALL the support! This has been a very difficult time for us. Seeing the outpour of love and caring from the previous numerous posts has helped us to cope with this tragedy. Corinna has considered all of you extended family for a long time. I know she has spent numerous hours in many of your lives and enjoyed every minute of it. She would keep me updated on many events and crisises that would happen. I am going to miss this from her. She worked with the Spay/Neuter Task force locally and did many other community projects. She cared for me when I went thru my cancer surgeries 12 years ago and most recently last year when I had to undergo back surgery. You have ALL become like a second family to ours! I wish Corinna could see this thread. Some of these posts have had us in tears. When you come to the end of your life it is surprising the number of people effected by your presence. We have been busy on the phone and meeting people that have been influenced by Corinna life, some who I have never met.
Our family, Tim, Clarissa & Roger, Ben, and Charity Jean want to thank All of you for being in Corinna's life and for all that you have added to it! We will all have a little piece of Corinna with us.

By the way, our big bag of treats is missing and I believe Corinna is sharing it on the other side of the bridge. They will be well cared for! Corinna believed in CELEBRATING life. Enjoy EVERY minute! :D

Tim and Corrina's family, you have all been in my thoughts constantly over the past couple days. It is so very difficult to come up with adequate words to express my sorrow that a very dear and compassionate person has been lost to all of us. Through her posts and what others have posted about her, she seemed such a gentle and unassuming person, full of consideration of others and generosity of heart. She never pointed out all the wonderful things she did for others, never sought out acclaim and recognition for her thoughtfulness. She is the type of person I look up to and strive to be more like. It can be such a struggle sometimes to not be selfish or revolving around one's own problems and feelings.

I will always remember Corrina with admiration and I will strive even harder to live by her loving example. My prayers remain with you.

Just wanted to tell you about the time we were on Windows Messenger. She was telling me about recipes, that I could cook for my husband, who is also a diabetic. Finally she jokingly ask me if I wanted her to write me a cookbook! Of coarse, I said yes! We had a lot of fun that night just talking to each other. I will never forget our conversation. She told me about you, Tim. She loved you very much, she also, told me of her son, and her daughter, who she loved very much also. She was a wonderful friend to me, she was the first to congratulate me in a pm on the birth of my grandson, said she just couldn't wait until her little grand-daughter got there. She was very proud to become a grandmother. She was really well loved here at PT by us all, and will be missed by us all. I thank the Lord that I got to know this wonderful woman. She never had a bad thing to say about anybody, no matter what the situation was. What a wonderful person!

Just want to say, that I am still praying for you, and your family. May you be comforted in this terrible time, and know that Corinna is well taken care of. I know she is with God.

Tim, Family, and fellow Pet Talkers....

I'm so sorry I haven't found this thread until now. My deepest prayers and sympathies go out to each and every person that has been affected by this tragic and sudden loss. Corrina was an amazing and caring person who never thought twice about sharing and giving to others. This can be seen by her posts on PT and how much all of our members cherished special gifts and thoughts she had sent. She also seemed to have such a full, wonderful, and happy life!

I wanted to share two of my very favorite "stories" that I learned of after my dad died almost 3 years ago. Every day is difficult and the pain is hard to ease, but these are comforting words that I hope will help....

The Dragonfly Story (a great story to relate this to Charity Jean one day)

Once, in a little pond, in the muddy water under the lily pads,
there lived a little water beetle in a community of water
beetles. They lived a simple and comfortable life in the pond
with few disturbances and interruptions.

Once in a while, sadness would come to the community when one of
their fellow beetles would climb the stem of a lily pad and
would never be seen again. They knew when this happened; their
friend was dead, gone forever.

Then, one day, one little water beetle felt an irresistible urge
to climb up that stem. However, he was determined that he would
not leave forever. He would come back and tell his friends what
he had found at the top.

When he reached the top and climbed out of the water onto the
surface of the lily pad, he was so tired, and the sun felt so
warm, that he decided he must take a nap. As he slept, his body
changed and when he woke up, he had turned into a beautiful
blue-tailed dragonfly with broad wings and a slender body
designed for flying.

So, fly he did! And, as he soared he saw the beauty of a whole
new world and a far superior way of life to what he had never
known existed.

Then he remembered his beetle friends and how they were thinking
by now he was dead. He wanted to go back to tell them, and
explain to them that he was now more alive than he had ever been
before. His life had been fulfilled rather than ended.

But, his new body would not go down into the water. He could
not get back to tell his friends the good news. Then he
understood that their time would come, when they, too, would
know what he now knew. So, he raised his wings and flew off
into his joyous new life!

"Gone From My Sight by Henry Van Dyke"

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone"

Gone where?

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she let my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"

And that is dying...

Death comes in its own time, in its own way.
Death is as unique as the individual experiencing it.

I picked out a nice card and started to leave, but then glanced over and saw one with a beautiful lighthouse on it. I am still imagining the racous welcome Corinna got when she arrived at the Rainbow Bridge, with Merlin, of course, leading the pack. And when all the initial furor died down a bit, Wee One I am sure hopped up and into Corinna's lap, nudging aside whatever other critter was there.

Then, one by one, all the animals who were ever loved by Pet Talk people who love Corinna, led, perhaps, or at least herded into line by FloppsyLadySally's beloved Lady, who is recently arrived there, but always knew her job as a shepherd, each would come forward and pay his or her respects. Even my Sheba dog, my first-ever smartest dog in the whole wide world, surely has paid her tribute to Corinna by now.

Then, in my silly imagination, they'll all join in (howling, barking, meowing, purring, chirping, humming) the song all animals know "love is something if you give it away, you end up having more."

From the Hungry Horse News (their local paper):

Corinna Marie (Kager) Brubaker

Corinna Marie (Kager) Brubaker, 45, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2006, at her home in Columbia Falls.

She was born April 8, 1961 in Anacortes, Wash. to Barbara and Robert E. Kager. She attended Conway Grade School and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1979.

Corinna Married Timothy Brubaker on March 17, 1979. She has raised two children and just became a grandmother on June 18, 2006. She was a Girl Scout Leader for eight years in Mount Vernon, Wash.

They moved to Montana in 1994.

Her interests were her spinning wheel where she spent uncountable hours making yarn for numerous projects for herself and others.

She loved lighthouses and carousels and orcas, all of which she has a large collection.

She spent time with the Flathead Spay/Neuter Task Force and was very active with Crossing the Barriers.

She was always working on some community project. She loved animals and spent uncountable hours on pet forums.
