As some of you know, I've been searching for a job since last fall. I haven't had one call back. I really thought something was wrong with me that I couldn't see.

When I got home from school today, my Dad said I'm supposed to call Penny. And I'm like, "Penny???.. I don't know a Penny.." and he says, "Penny at Walmart. She wants to know if you're still interested in a job."

:D:D:D

I'M SO EXCITED! I'm going to call her in a few minutes to *hopefully* schedule an interview! I'm so nervous. I've never had an interview before, lol. :o

If I get a job, I'll be working in Electronics, Pets or Clothing... :)

Excellent. Think of all the attributes that an employer might want in an employee - reliability, pleasant attitude, energetic, well groomed, outgoing, helpful, resourceful, etc. and see if you can present a bit of any of them in your interview. If you have the opportunity during the interview, you might want to speak to what you enjoy about shopping at Walmart so Penny will understand that you believe in what they are trying to do. You are an intelligent person and I know you will do well in your interview, but for the fun of it, I'll wish you luck.

Way to go girl!!! Nowadays, companies don't call you back unless they are interested. When I was younger and looking for a job, I used to get tons of reject letters. They don't even send out letters anymore. I had recently been chasing this guy, the manager of a newly opened pet store in the area I'm living in right now. I applied months ago, kept calling and following up. He was blowing smoke up my butt telling me the BIG manager who does all the interviewing, was still interviewing and it would be a slow process. Well, I couldn't wait and it's a good thing because now I'm moving out of the area and don't need his stinking job. I got a job at PETCO. So there!! :p

Good luck on your interview! Please keep us posted.

Hehe.. thanks!! ^__^

I'm so nervous! I tend to be too honest sometimes, and let answers pour out...

I really hope I get this job. I really hate needing to ask my parents for money when I need it - I'm 17 and should had a job before this.. but I honestly was having no luck finding one.

The interview yesterday went fantastic!! I wasn't nervous at all - I had troubles answering questions, but I got them all answered.

And guess what ....

TOMORROW I HAVE A SECOND INTERVIEW WITH THE ASSISTANT MANAGER!

Before, I was just nervous. Now I'm nervous and excited. I'm more nervous because this is an assist. manager - but more excited because I actually got called for another interview!

Please wish me luck and keep me in your prayers!! :)

Congratulations! Usually the second interview is just a formality. Unless you do or say something really off the wall you should be just fine. :)

Sounds promising! Good luck! :D

I got my first job when I was 17 too...I applied EVERYWHERE and would always follow up on them with no luck. One day I randomly put an app in at a miniature golf place with no intentions of actually working there and got the job right away

Thank you so much everyone for the wishes of luck, prayers, and good luck!!

I GOT THE JOB! I'm not what I wanted to be (sales floor - pets or clothing) - but I'm a cashier!!! (Kinda nervous about that)

I get pay level 2 - $8.40 an hour (min. wage is $7.65) guaranteed 15 hours a week. I asked for between 15-20 hours a week.

It's only a temporary employment - so ~90 days of work. If they're pleased with my services, I'll get hired to cashier again or another area.

Thanks again everyone!!! :) I love PT's support.

congrats cashiering can be the funnest part . I do alittle of all things in our store.(Pamida) But as casher I get to interact with people more.Best advice I can give is NEVER take any thing personnaly people have bad days and lash out ant the closest person. Being the happy person you may be the only one they encounter all day.
