here is a page from the book I just bought, ..."catnip for the soul" by Woody & Friends, as told to Jane O'Boyle.

ANGEL FLEAS
Some kittens look at fleas as being bothersome. Others, like old Pepper, have learned that fleas can bring blessings in itchy disguise. Pepper was feeling down. Two of her neighborhood firends had succumbed to leukemia, and an old street injury was aggravating her tendinitis. When fleas moved in under her tail and behind her left ear, she felt she might as well hang up her ice skates and retire. It seemed nothing was going right for her. Achingly, she began the ritual of scraping the fleas from her neck with her toenails. After a while, she was begrudgingly dunked into a warm bath. By then she didn't even have the energy to scrape her paws down the sides of the bathtub to try to stop the immersion. But you know what happend? the leg exercise of scratching the fleas, plus the warm baths, relieved her tendinitis after years of suffering. As a result of the "pet's curse", Pepper was cured. Sometimes a difficult period can bring you new appreciation of how wonderful life can be. --Woody[/QUOTE]
