Your girls are beautiful!! I have a one-eyed Albino rat named Winkie who I adore. I love your girls' set up too! I'm looking for a tank topper for Winkie to give him more room to move around in. Any idea where I can get one cheap?? How do you bond with your girls? I take Winkie out everyday but can't let him roam cuz I live in a one room apartment with 4 cats. I'd like to get closer to him cuz I think he's the best! Any suggestions? Also, what do you feed your girls? I give him hotdogs (he goes NUTS over them!) grapes, cherries, zucchini, oats, rat pellets, just about everything I eat except for lettuce.

I've never seen a tank topper for sale here...so no sorry i don't

My girls come out once a day if possible (sometimes more, sometimes not at all). They get many quick cuddles through the day. I have a harness for my girls cause they sometimes jump *L*...and with 1 kitten (the other older cat is terrified of them *L*) and a dog who takes far too much interest for my liking

My girls get a base diet of a mouse & rat mix my pet supply shop makes & rat and mouse blocks. They get cucumber, apple, strawberries, grapes, oatmeal, banana, beans, carrots...they get at least one serving of fresh fruit or veg/day....and they love it when i put frozen peas and corn in a bowl of water for them to fish out (great for summer)

Occassional treats, they like, peanut butter (spead thinly so they have to lick and cannot get a big chunk in their mouth, avocada, jam, tinned cat food, dog biscuits, sweet biscuit, yoghurt, vegemite toast (bit off the corner *L*), cooked bones (man they go mad over them), cooked chicken, and pretty well anything i eat provided its not spicy or exceptionally fatty

That is so great to know, thanks!!

I completely forgot about the chicken bones and chicken. I also give Winkie a base of rat and mouse food, along with a type of trail mix that has nuts in it.

I wound up getting the tank topper last night for $26. He still spend his sleeping hours in the tank but loves going up and down. It's a type of cage that sits directly (and securely) on top of a 10 gal tank. It has two levels to it and I put in a small hammock for him to rest in, which he hasn't used yet. My cats have no interest in him, except for MooShoo. He tries to touch him while he's on my shoulder. They go nose-to-nose sometimes and if Moo gets "too" friendly, Winkie will bite him on the nose. When I clean out the tank, I put Winkie in the bathtub. Because my apartment is so small, I can't really let him roam unless I put all 4 cats in the bathroom and close the door. It's not very convenient since the bathroom is the size of a phonebooth.

I wasn't sure if it was okay to give him canned cat food. Great to know! I'll have to try giving it to him. I also have honey bars and and yogurt drops. He goes NUTS over hotdogs!! I'll have to try giving him cooked chicken bones.

Oh they are really lovely. All the rats in the pictures are truly sweet. I love their little faces, so full of love, curiousness, and adventure. We give our rats small lunch size brown paper bags which they just love to rip apart in about a half an hour. So fun.
