View Full Version : My grandmother passed away yesterday...

I am left with a broken heart, she passed away yesterday afternoon. Thankfully it was peaceful, she is now in a better place, happy, healthy & whole again. She's went through so much the last fe months especially, she so deserves to be where she is at now. As sad as I am I am relieved that she is no longer suffering. We've had so many good times together I wouldn't even know where to begin. I sure will miss her but at least I now have her with me at all times, forever & always.

I was also wondering if anyone can help me out today. (I have no net acces on the weekends & I have to get it done by this weekend) You see I am going to make up one of those picture frame things of her to be viewed at the service. I am looking for a prayer, saying, quote or the like that includes something along the lines of how special a grandmother, mother, sister & friend is. I would like it to include "grandmother, mother, sister & friend" (doesn't have to be in that order, or in the title, as long as it is stated somewhere in there). I understand this is short notice and it may be hard to find something like that so if you know of any other things that may be suitable please share them as well. As long as it is legal for me to cory it, I will give credit and list the author, that's no problem.

I was going to make up my own but I am unable to think today. It's finally really starting to hit me that she really is gone. My mind is drawing blanks. If anyone feels creative enough to make up their own I would be more than happy to take it into considerataion too.
Thanks in advance
Signed with a heavy heart,
Sue

((((hugs)))) from all of us, Sue. As you assemble her pictures, remember that if you can't find a poem or a quote, a picture is worth a thousand words. May memories of her warm your heart.

Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Friend
within each one of us,
Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Friend
your spirit lives

yet -
this moment, right now,
is a most difficult moment
i ...we, the living must endure -
as we all will endure,
while we find solace here,
within our companion's love;
we all know
we need her still

today,
i ...we ...need to lean on each other's support and love;

reach out
and take the hand of another
this woman,
one we will always remember,
loves

everyone -
seek with your heart
to find in the words of this embrace
the love you feel for
Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Friend;

Carol Morgan Chapman Loudon ...

like the intricate, silken strands
of a summer morning's sweet breath
on a dew-laden web
you have woven a beloved tapestry of life,
cascading about you
at its center

yet
unlike the solitary sentinel
that lies in wait
hoping to ensnare its prey
you have a web that radiates of the continuity of life

even, unto death,
you remain
a rose arrayed in love;
ah, rose,
bending quietly before the dawn of day,
how beautiful you are,
your evanescent petals unfolding into our lives

and now, this new day,
gently returning to ashen earth;
you are love that lasts and lasts

take thee our hand,
each one of us,
in this eterne moment
have warmed for thee -
and abide in us

and every day,
like the sparrows arrayed in all their splendor
amidst the branches and blossoms
within the world you call home,
in our hearts
we sing our embrace

it does not matter
if one has known you but for a while,
we all join in song
of this covenant,
etched in love between God, family, and friends -
this garden nourished within your soul
will always find its roots
in each of us

we can tell you now
and always...

i love you

Put Grandma's name here

You were so much to so many
Grandmother, mother, sister and friend
Inspiration to all generations
The love you gave us will never end

Your legacy is not one of worldly things
No object, no riches could ever outshine
The joy you brought to so many hearts
And the love in your eyes that so brightly did shine

Grandmother, mother, sister, friend
There were no boundaries to your spirit
Generous with yourself, your actions, your affection
Even your hug, to this day, my body still can feel it

Grandmother, mother, sister, friend
Your beauty did not dim with time
Deeper than skin, joyful as laughter
Beauty of heart, body soul and mind

We cannot say good-bye,
Though the world tells us we must
Because you gave yourself so freely
We all carry you forward within us

In the midst of our grieving you,
Grandmother, mother, sister and friend
We are also rejoicing, celebrating your life
The love, the joy you gave us surely never will end

Sue, sent you this in a PM, too.

Thank you everyone for your loving thoughts, prayers & actions. They mean a lot to me. She was my last grandparent I had, there are no more for me. :( I was exceptionally close to her, and her husband, my grandfather, who has passed away close to 15 years ago now. To say that they will be missed is an understatement.

It wasn't really sinking in yesterday, even though I saw her, she was no longer with us. It is sinking in more & more as time passes. My emotions will get worse before they get better.

Thank you so much Karen, for taking the time to write such a beautiful poem. I will honor it at the service, where it will be displayed on beautiful yellow rose paper, with pretty print. Do you want me to list your name as credit? (I'll pm you and ask there as well).

I am pleased to say that I am taking care of myself as best as I can, in fact I am treating myself to a trip to the dog park tonight. That ALWAYS helps lift my spirits. Don't tell Kaige & Indy that this trip is for me though, they might think I am a little nuts. :p

Sue, I am so sorry for your loss.. I can tell by the words you have said that your grandmother was an amazing person. She taught you alot of things in life and you will always keep that with you. You will always have her in your heart and remember that you will meet her again.

Time will heal. I been through many deaths and at first it seems like the pain won't ever go away, but trust me it does.. It will get better and easier for you especially when you find peace within yourself with the situation.

If you need to talk or anything you know my number..

take care!

We are here for you.

lv4dogs, I am SO sorry that this happened to you and your family...at least your grandmother passed away peacefully. My grandmother passed away October 25, 2005 of a absolutely TERRIBLE disease called cancer. Almost a whole year ago, and feels like just yesterday. It will get easier over time. Trust me, you will NEVER forget her...but it really will get a little bit easier. I think I can accept the fact that she is gone now...only because I know that she is safe, healthy, in a better place, and watching over me. I hope that this feeling comes to you soon, too.

Many, many hugs and prayers for you, your family, and friends.
