I have been following this story and am so glad. I only wish Patsy had been alive to see this all unfold, although her husband said that she was informed, before her death, that they had a good lead on this man. RIP Patsy and Jon Benet.

Such a shock to me, because I hadn't thought about that case in so long. I am glad that they found him, although he is saying that her death was an accident, which I can't quite believe. He sounds like quite a sick person. I'll be interested to see how this all pans out.

Catty I agree. She was a beautiful little girl. But i really think her life was over before it was taken by that sicko. She was their cash cow. And IMO I think it is disgusting to use a child like that. She was gorgeous but she shouldn't have been forced into beauty pageants and other such things at such a tender age. She needed to be a child not a star. (we all see what happens to children in the lime light *cough Michael Jackson cough*)

however, I am glad they caught this guy. I hope he gets everything that is coming to him. Do they have the death penalty there? (i can't remember where they were from lol) I hope so and I hope he gets it. There is NO excuse for what he did. if it was an accident why did he run from the law for so long? I hope he goes to hell :mad:

I heard an interview today with someone who is a former FBI profiler, and he was asked to join the newer investigative team on this case a few years back. He refused.

And the comments on the arrest - the suspect's confession apparently included that he had picked JonBenet up from school, then raped her.

This was Christmas Day - there was no school.

Some sickos get a thrill out of confessing to a notorious crime.

And there is speculation about suicide; apparently Patsy's attorney had a note to be released only after Patsy's death. Apparently she wanted to protect her daughter - and was afraid that if the 'suicide' truth came out, she would have had to return all her daughter's trophies, which would have broken her heart. :eek: :eek: :eek:

Added to that was the statement that JonBenet was apparently distraught because she had gained 5 pounds over Thanksgiving and Christmas, and feared she wouldn't fit into a certain costume for an upcoming pageant.

I don't know who the worse sickos are....although the parents didn't murder Jon, she was certainly abused and miserable. That poor kid. Distraught over weight gain at AGE 6!!!

I'd like to hope that they caught the right suspect after so many years, but I won't jump to any conclusions just yet.

He does seem to have some mental problems and a sort of obsession with JonBenet, but I heard somewhere that during the time of JonBenet's murder, he was with his now ex-wife on Christmas when it happened?

I don't know, I'd like to see what other evidence they find connecting him to the murder.

Yes, the suspect apparently did email a man who had written a book about the JonBenet case, and the emails contained details of the death never made public.

JUST TOO WEIRD.

And the authorities are on record as saying there is a lot of work to do yet - and to not jump to any conclusions.

I read the article immediatly after that one, Buttercup, and it stated that he got a 13 year old girl pregnant, then "assisted in the delivery" at his home. Twin girls. And they both died. :(

My question is, what was he doing with the Thai police anyway - did he go to them to confess to the crime, or did the confession come out after they had already picked him up for doing something illegal in thailand? After reading a couple of the articles linked from the post that Zoey made, especially about his picking up teens and such, i wonder if he wasn't picked up by the Thai police for something similar over there - and just decided that a prison in the US would be better than a prison in Thailand? So, confess to a high profilie crime he didn't commit, to get his 15-mins-of-fame and get extradited to the US.

I dunno... it's all really sad anyway, especially if this guy was picking up teens, and going to be teaching grade 2 level kids :(

I don't think he is the guy, but in a way, I hope he turns out to be now telling the truth. Just to put the case to rest.

But too many inconsistencies in his confession. By the way, I think the 13 year old girl someone mentioned earlier was his 1st wife. And his second wife who now says that he was with her during Xmas was only 16 when he married her. I agree Bobs Dad, I dont think looks have a whole lot to do with it. I live in Colorado so this has been on our local news a lot. They had a press conference with the DA of Boulder the other day. Of course she could only say "No Comment" to the questions asked. It was a waste of time IMO.

This guy that says he did it, has moved all over the country teaching in different schools. Also, he said he drugged JonBenet but there was no evidence of drugs when they did the autospy. In Boulder, they are waiting for the guy to come back to check if his handwriting matches the note that was found at the murder and the DNA. They are going to look pretty "stupid" in Boulder if this isn't the guy.
