Hi to all my PT friends, hope you all are enjoying your Sunday afternoon with your furkids. Yesterday on Channel 10 news from Philadelphia, they did a story about the Camden (New Jersey) Animal Shelter. Being the height of kitten season, the Shelter has so many kitties that they simply cannot accept anymore. In an effort to encourage adoptions, the Shelter has lowered its adoption fee to $25. The news crew took some film at the Shelter and the kitties waiting for furever homes are absolutely adorable and appear to be quite friendly. For any PT'ers in the Camden/Philly area who may be thinking of adopting another furry little bundle of joy, or if you know of someone who is interested in adopting a kitty, please check this out. A staff member interviewed at the Shelter said the adoption fee includes spay/neuter and all shots.

Nice to meet another New Jerseyan! ;) I heard that too and have only one mild correction to make. The shelter is actually called the Camden County Animal Shelter and is located actually in Blackwood, about 9 miles from Camden. I have been there several times but dare not go when there are so many needy kitties. I am a weak person. Thank you for posting this though. Someone may be lurking who is ready to adopt. :)

Hi Pam! Thank you so very much for the correction. My reason for posting this was to let anyone who may be interested or knows someone thinking about adopting a kitty know about the desperate need at the shelter and I have no doubt this situation isn't limited to the Camden shelter. Hpefully this will spark some interest. Thanks again!!!!!

I hope taht people who want a Cat will spend at least the 25 dollars to get a Cat, or Kitten thats already spayed or neutered as thats a great bargain.
I hope these Little Ones get thier Furr Ever Homes.

This is a wonderful idea and I hope that other shelters and organizations will also lower their adoption fees. There are just too many animals that need homes. At my local Humane Society, the adoption fee is now $155 which I think is very expensive. They're running a special adoption fair right now and will reduce the price if you adopt cats in pairs but I don't know what they're charging for this.
