My friend Michele and I hiked up Mt. Timpanogos last Thursday, spent the night (wouldn't call it sleeping, we froze) and came back on Friday. I took close to 400 photos :o I tried to narrow it down but did a pretty bad job of it....there's still a ton, I apologize. In case you are wondering, Cisco is my friend's dog, he is an aussie/border collie mix.

I couldn't find a good pic of Timpanogos from a distance on my computer but here's some on a website (scroll down halfway) http://utahpictures.com/Various1.php I think its about 5-6 miles one way to where we went (Emerald Lake, which is actually on the other side of the mountain that you see in those pics). We were going to go to the "saddle" (where you can sit on the actual top of the mountain) but Cisco hurt his paws on the way up and was limping, we didn't think he should have to go any farther than necessary...I think that was another mile or so. We were pretty dead from carrying the heavy backpacks anyway. I've been to the saddle and the metal hut or whatever it is the last time I went, the view from the saddle is amazing!

Anyway, on to the pics...HERE (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v216/U2Q/Mt%20Timpanogos%20Hike%20Aug%202006/?start=0) is the link to the album if you'd rather look at them that way.

There were several waterfalls, I'm not sure how many...this was the first one

Cisco gets the urge for the "call of the wild." He heard a siren in the distance, Nebo had to join in too.

I'm ALWAYS impressed by your pictures, ALWAYS!

Beautiful scenery and cute dogs. ;) Seriously though, those have to be some of the greatest and most beautiful pictures I have ever seen. I would never be able to pick the one I like best because they are all so beautiful. Do you live in that area? If you do, your so lucky to see that scenery every day. I would love to live there.

Nebo and Cisco pose very well for pictures, and they are both to handsome for words.

WOW!!! Gorgeous photos Amy.

What was the temperature up there? You said it was cold, but I've camped in snow with nothing but a lean to and a sleeping bag. ;)

I loved the sunrise photos and the scenery is just breathtaking.

I hope Cisco's paw is feeling better. Have you ever considered camping on Mt. Nebo with Nebo? :D

What wonderful pictures, Amy! I'm definitely going to sit down with a cup of coffee and look through your whole album when I have more time. Bebo & Cisco look so "ruggedly handsome" in their backpacks. Those wildflowers are beautiful! Sherman was very interested in that howling video. He was lying on the floor behind me, and jumped up when the howling started! Thanks for sharing your week-end vacation with us.

Do you live in that area?
Not on the mountain (I wish) but I live below it.

Now, WHERE are the photos showing You and Michele??
I only took a couple and they really didn't turn out so great...we weren't dressed for photos of ourselves lol.

What was the temperature up there? You said it was cold, but I've camped in snow with nothing but a lean to and a sleeping bag. Have you ever considered camping on Mt. Nebo with Nebo?
I honestly have no idea. Cold enough that the snow hadn't melted. ;) If we had decent sleeping bags (we had 1 really crappy one and 1 crappy blanket between the both of us, just on top so it didn't keep the cold out on the sides/bottom) we would have been fine as I've slept in the mountains this time a year with a better sleeping bag didn't freeze.
Yes I have, I just need to find out what kind of trail it is, the one on Timp is fairly well used but I don't know about that one.

How long did it take??
I feel really pathetic admitting this but it took us 7  hours to get to the top (most people can make it in around 4 hrs). We weren't trying to be fast though, we took it as slow as we felt like it and made a few stops for pics, etc. We weren't really prepared for the weight of the backpacks either. It took us 5 hrs to get down.

Cisco heard a police siren in the distance and those always make him howl...they don't bother Nebo, but if another dog howls, Nebo has to join in, he just can't help himself. :D
