I know I've done this thread before, but we're getting new members. What kind of car are you driving now and which car was the worst car you owned? I now drive a 2006 chevy cobalt (which I LOVE!) and my worst was a clunker of a 1973 Ford maverick. I bought it and took it to the mechanic and found out it was the parts of TWO cars welded together! Needless to say I got rid of that one QUICK!

My favorite of course is my little blue Festiva (aka the little blue pill) as seen on my myspace page :D Worst car I ever drove was this POS Mozda 626 2 door sport, you had to seriously hold the gas down while braking to keep it from dying...and it was an automatic. It had cardboard and duct tape holding engine parts together...glad it wasnt my car!

I am driving a 2006 Chevy HHR and hubby is driving my 2000 Cougar. It's yellow and a total chick car, so he gets made fun of. :p I really don't have a worst car. I did drive a mini-van in HS and some college.

Ah, a topic that I love almost as much as my pets.

My current daily driver is my '04 Nissan Titan. Although I drive a ton of miles and this thing gets horrible gas, I couldn't imagine a more comfotable ride, for me,to sit in traffic in.

And the reason that I have truck as a daily driver is to keep me entertained on the weekends:

I really wish this picture wasn't taken with a cell phone. So many times I wish I had a camera that I could take out to the desert and not destroy it.

I've had a lot of cars/trucks in my 8 years of driving but my worst had to be my '86 Ford Escort. The car realy did try and it wasn't horrible, but it would always break if I tried to go more than 30 miles any direction out of town. Steering wheel came off on the freeway, frontend fell out twice, and at the end of its life it had no first or second gear and it was donated after the stick shift pulled off in my hand.

I have to add my favorite too. My '68 Mercury Cougar that was my first car that I bought with my own money, well a loan from Grandma but I payed it back. It's what has been keeping me busy during the week because I pulled the engine out and am rebuilding most of the car. However, here she is in her prime before I pulled everything out again:

Thanks Kay!

I love that car, but we have a love/hate relationship. It always seems like there's something else to do to keey her running.

I'll post a separate topic of the current build. The car looks so sad sitting on stands without an engine or transmission.

I recently bought a cheap car to get me around town, it's a 1990 Toyota Corolla. Can't go wrong with a Toyota in my opinion, and plus the dogs love it. :p
See how much he likes it?? :D

I can't say that I've hated any car I've ever owned....my first car was a Geo Metro, it took me everywhere, I loved it!!! I love small cars and someday I would like a Mini Cooper (with a sunroof of course). :D

I don't own a car at the moment but my dream car is a '69 Red or Black Mustang.

My son had a red '69 Mustang which he had restored almost 100%. Unfortunately one day an old man pulled out right in front of him (never even looked!) and the car was totaled as the insurance did not compensate him on its real value.

I drive a 1999 Honda CRV and am in the early stages of thinking of trading it in. I love CRVs but am also very strongly attracted to Toyota's RAV4's. I have owned a couple of Toyotas in the past and they are a very good car. :)

Troy and I use his 1991 Honda Accord. It's about to crap out on us so we're going to see about getting a new or used one. We're about to move into a new apt, though, so it might have to wait.

My first and worst car is/was a 1972 Datsun pickup that my dad bought for 90 bucks! It runs fine minus a few minor details on the inside and the way it looks. So, maybe it's not the worst. :p

I would love to have a 69 Chevelle. :D

I drive a 93 Dodge Shadow (first car). I HATE it but it gets me from point a to point b (after replacing $2000 worth :o) so I can't complain. It was free from a family friend too!

I have to add my dream car too! My dream car is a Celica. It's a somewhat affordable car (compared to my other "dream cars" anyways) but the last model available is the 2005 model. Hopefully I'll find a used one when I'm ready to get one. If I ever get it, I want to modify it and add Lambourghini doors and add a body kit. :D

I'm scared to ask how much that costs!

I'm 13 so I don't drive, but since my parents do I can still tell you the worst car we have had.

A Pontiac. I don't really remember what kind of car it was but it was always breaking down on the highway and it the engine started smoking once. We gave it to my brother, who hated it and traded it in for some other car.

The best car is the we have now which is a 2004 or 2005 Navigator with all the works. The truck opens by itself, the runners come out when the door opens, and a dvd player :D . We also have a Lincoln LS, which my dad drives to work.

I'm in a Ford Taurus which I love and never have any problems with.
All my cars have been good, but due to a period of unemployment once, I was unable to maintain my Nissan for awhile. There was a hole in the radiator and the hood would fly up, on the freeway. (Lot's of breaking down on the way to work. Lots of stalling in the pkg garage at work.) Ugh yeah. Memories.
I guess my favorite was a 450 SL mercedes convertible I drove for about a year.
A friend drove it without my permission and totalled it. He wasn't hurt, but had no insurance. I later found out my insurance co. had been in bankruptsy while still taking my premiums every month.
So I sold it for scrap. And lost my a$$.

Haha, they're not too expensive these days. (Newer) used ones are going for anywhere from $13,000 to $20,000. I've always dreamt of modifying my car though.. that'll really empty out the bank account. :p

Best car - the one I drive now, a Subaru Outback. It's just like the one in the com mercials - full of huskies!http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v432/cyber-sibes/goinforaride-2.jpg
the worst was an ancient orange station wagon. It was falling apart. The driver's side door didn't work, and I was pregnant, what a pain! Some guy my then-husband worked with told him he should be ashamed of himself for not taking better care of his family-- it worked, he got another car. (Not married to him anymore.)

I drive a 2001 Ford Focus Wagon. I LOVE it (except in the snow - it's not that great). But other than that, it runs great, it's in great shape and it's been paid off for quite some time! :)

My dream "car" is actually a Vespa Scooter.

I drive a 1989 Buick LeSabre T-Type. I love it, except I think leather seats are terribly unconfortable.

The only other car I've owned was a 1988 Mazda B2200 pickup, so I guess that would be the 'worst', though I loved it almost as much as I love the Buick.

My best and worst are covered by one car....my 1985 Pontiac Grand Am.

Best? 35 MPG, handled incredibly well on back roads, (DON'T tell me how fast I'm going, I don't want to know....), and was comfortable on long trips. (FT Hood-Mass, about 2100 miles, in 28 hours)

Worst? Ate brakes, (rotors and pads every 3-5k), went through alternators like mad, (9 alternators over the life of the car), and had to rework the head twice in one 20,000 mile timespan.

runner up for both? A 1980 Ford F-100 nicknamed the Yellow Peril. Take a bone stock F-100, and put a highly modified V-8 under the hood. It's never a good thing when you encounter lift while driving. Went through gas and clutches like the Grand Am went through brakes.

Current vehicles?

A 2004 F-150, great work truck, 4x4 and can haul a lot of wood.

A 1996 ford countour, which will wind up as a stealth rocket (I figure I can get about 200 hp out of the stock engine w/o a turbo)

and LOH's car, a bone stock 2002 Ford Taurus.

I'm currently only 14, so I don't drive yet.. Learner's permit next year though.. :D. Anyways, the worst car my mom's had is our current one. It's a 1997 Dodge Intrepid, and I hate it so much. It uses alot of gas, and it always overheats and leaves us stuck somewhere until it cools down.. x_x. The best car we've had is probably the 1980 something Plymouth Sundance my mom used to have. It was an awesome car till it broke, too.

My own dream car(s)
Vintage (specifically I like the original and 1969) Yellow Ford Mustang Convertible.

He gets great gas miliage (anywhere from 31 (which is what he is rated at) to 40+ on the highway). He handles like a dream... I could blow on the steering wheel and he would make a 90 degree turn for me. He gets me places, is a great car for packing friends into for *short* trips, and a comfy ride for either 3 people or 2 people and 2 dogs and minimal luggage for a long trip.

My dream cars....

Growing up with a Mazda rx 7, I'd love to own a Mazda rx8... Preferably a blue one, but I like red too.
http://images.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/images/vehicles/gallery/RX8/pho_gallery_RX8_ext13.jpg

I'd love either a BRAND NEW Porsche 911 Turbo or an older one... No real year preferance, as long as it's a real turbo. The brand new ones make me drool.
http://www.porsche.com/filestore.aspx/normal.jpg?pool=germany&type=galleryimage&id=tu997-experience-exterieur-08&lang=none&filetype=normal

I'm a sports car girl, born and raised... I'd prefer to not do any mods (because they're expensive -- imo the car should COME that hot), but I'd be open to it -- especially wheels and hubcaps.

I have not had a "worst" car.

I would say "Bill the Car" was the one with the most character, but all my early cars were at least 12 when I got them, and had plenty of character.
Bill was a 1974 Maverick, light blue, with a brown driver's side door, a black formerly-vinyl roof, which has decomposed and was peeling, maroon primer on the left rear quarter panel, a liberal amount of grey Bondo scattered about, and somewhat religious (holy/holey) floorboard. By the time Bill was slain on a Somerville street one night, (it was slammed into while parked - still ran in an abbreviated-by-a-good-foot form for a month) sky-blue paint had covered the Bondo, so I handed out pieces of Bondo to mourners.

My current car is my Honda CRV, a 2003. It's great - goes up and down hill in snow and ice, gets decent mileage for an "SUV" 26 mpg, is comfortable, roomy and fits lots of stuff! We live on a hill, and there are 4 other CRVs in the surrounding houses.

I now drive a Magnesium Metallic 05 Honda Civic EX SE (automatic). I LOVE this car! :D

Hmmm... like some others, I haven't had really had a "worst car" although some were rather iffy as to whether they'd get me from Point A to Point B. Perhaps, my 98 Chevy Corsica was the "worst" of all I've owned... it ATE oil. Since I was driving back and forth between home and college, Dad finally gave me my graduation present early... an 01 Nissan Sentra.

I'm destined to only drive granny cars. But I don't really care as long as it runs I'm happy. I would never spend a huge amount of money on a car unless I was extremely rich, they just go down in value. I'd rather save my money for an investment like a house.

I'm currently driving a '92 chevy lumina. It was my grandma's car, but so far it's been great...low miles, no major upsets *knock on wood* the backseat is roomy enough for a couple big dogs. I keep a seat cover back there all the time, that is the dog's section!

I've only had one other car and it was an '89 buick century. The drivers side window broke so I couldn't roll it down which was rather embarassing in drive-thrus (had to open the door). I would have kept driving it if I hadn't been in the wreck though, it wasn't too bad but to repair the damage would have been more than the car was worth (it was totaled and I bought it back). I actually drove it for several months after that but I had to sell it because it wouldn't pass inspections without repairs.

I have a 2001 Olds Alero that I bought new and love it.
Ihave had the spark plugs replaced and there was a time that it was shorting out a wire or something that made it strand me, but we got that fixed under warranty.
My 'worst' car was probably my first car - a 1986 Ford Temp - I loved it b/c it was my first car tho.
The AC would fog up the windows and the horn busted. (those were the days in HS where horn was important ;)) My dad replaced it with an air horn that vibrated the dash when it blew. I scared the crap out of my uncle when he was riding with me once and I blew the horn and the whole car shook. :D

I've only owned Toyota Corollas so I haven't really had a worst car. I currently drive a 2005 Toyota Corolla CE. It didn't come with all of the bells and whistles like the LE but I still love it. It has a lot of pep and gets great gas mileage and it has plenty of room for all of my cats too.:)

My dad tried to teach me how to drive a 1962 Pontiac Tempest which had the stick shift on the steering wheel. I never learned how to drive it. Probably the worst car that I drove while in high school was a Plymouth Station Wagon. It was so big and hard to park. It would also sometimes cut out while I was driving it.

I drive a '92 Toyota Camry. His name is Tobias. I love my little car.. I used to drive a 1980 Monte Carlo, which I LOVED, but it was going to cost me a LOT of money in repairs and maintenance so I sadly had to trade him in. It was a blessing though because with these gas prices my monte would have forced me to go bankrupt :p
