I posted about the lovely sweet mama cat that had her four babies killed a few weeks ago. I wasn't there, but my friend Leslie witnessed the heartbreaking sight, and waited till MSPCA showed up, then trapped mama & brought her to me. Poor mama was meowing and cooing trying to get her babies to follow her which must have been so awful to see. I named her "Melody" as she sang to her R.B babies. Here's the thread with Melody's sad story.

The next day (Friday) I got a call about a tiny little kitten that had been thrown into a small pond several blocks away from my house. This tiny month old kitten was thrown in twice by the ex-con boyfriend of the girl who had the baby. I named the baby "Ariel" after "The Little Mermaid", and seeing as she had been dropper fed cows milk for several weeks, was coming down with pneumonia, and was skin & bones, I didn't hold out much hope for her survival. I put her in with Melody, and both were so happy to have each other.

This was Melody & tiny baby Ariel a few days after rescue. Baby girl was already on the mend and guzzling her KMR!

Melody sings to Ariel all day, and keeps her milk face clean lol.

Sooo happy to have 'her' baby...notice Melody's paws making happy feet?

Ariel doesn't stay still for a second, but sadly had no clue what those dangly things on her new mommy's belly were all about. In less than one week, Ariel went from a lethargic rack of bones, to a little fatty! And it gets better! I got a call Tuesday night that two more of Melody's kittens had been spotted! I flew through work that day, grabbed up mama, and drove into the city and within a minute had scruffed up HER two survivors! I was amazed that they managed to survive for 5 long days without their mama. No pics yet, but what a wonderful family reunion, and Melody is singing tunes all day to her 3 little kittens. The 'Dairy Queen' reopened for business despite Melody's milk was well on the way to drying up! *GRIN*...*VERY BIG GRIN*!!

What a happy ending for Melody and Ariel and the other 2 little ones! They must have an amazing kitty spirit to survive so many days away, being newborns.
I didn't read the sad story link, however. It is not something I think I want to read today. But it is important to know about animal cruelty. Thanks so much for helping these little ones in need! :) :)

Jan,
Thank God you were there to rescue them. Melody looks so much like my Jade that passed away last December.

Melody is singing to Ariel and her two sweet lil' survivors Deb! :D The program to upload pics is not working so I can't post pics of Melody's own babies along with step-sister Ariel. :( And no litter this time lol! It was all swept up and I snapped pics before the litter flingers went to work. 20 minutes later...ughh. I want self cleaning cages! :p
Jade was such a beauty Melissa :)

Jan, you must feel like the Greek Fellow who rolled a boulder up hill, only to have it roll down when it got to the top.
There are getting to be too many unwanted Pets, and I have a bad feeling that its going to get worse if there an economic slowdown.
There are people who would sacrifice thier pets before thier pleasures.
Thank God You, and other Pet Talkers are there to help.
