I posted about the lovely sweet mama cat that had her four babies killed a few weeks ago. I wasn't there, but my friend Leslie witnessed the heartbreaking sight, and waited till MSPCA showed up, then trapped mama & brought her to me. Poor mama was meowing and cooing trying to get her babies to follow her which must have been so awful to see. I named her "Melody" as she sang to her R.B babies. Here's the thread with Melody's sad story.

The next day (Friday) I got a call about a tiny little kitten that had been thrown into a small pond several blocks away from my house. This tiny month old kitten was thrown in twice by the ex-con boyfriend of the girl who had the baby. I named the baby "Ariel" after "The Little Mermaid", and seeing as she had been dropper fed cows milk for several weeks, was coming down with pneumonia, and was skin & bones, I didn't hold out much hope for her survival. I put her in with Melody, and both were so happy to have each other.

This was Melody & tiny baby Ariel a few days after rescue. Baby girl was already on the mend and guzzling her KMR!

Ariel doesn't stay still for a second, but sadly had no clue what those dangly things on her new mommy's belly were all about. In less than one week, Ariel went from a lethargic rack of bones, to a little fatty! And it gets better! I got a call Tuesday night that two more of Melody's kittens had been spotted! I flew through work that day, grabbed up mama, and drove into the city and within a minute had scruffed up HER two survivors! I was amazed that they managed to survive for 5 long days without their mama. No pics yet, but what a wonderful family reunion, and Melody is singing tunes all day to her 3 little kittens. The 'Dairy Queen' reopened for business despite Melody's milk was well on the way to drying up! *GRIN*...*VERY BIG GRIN*!!
