Okay, time for another one of my silly DOG games!!!

Play along if you want to.

Think (real hard now folks) of a song, a jingle, a line in a song, an Advertisement, in reference to Dogs. Try to insert a lyric from your song.

Out of so many , I will start with just one. :o

"Gonna Buy Me A Dog" by the Monkees--1966

Michey Dolenz: "I'm going to buy me "A" Dog, Cause I need a friend now"

Davy Jones: "Need A friend now, hummm , Yeah.................

How much is that doggie in the window...
The one with the waggly tail...
How much is that doggie in the window...
I do hope that doggie's for sale!

I must take a trip to California
And leave my poor uncle alone
If he has a dog he won't be lonesome
And the doggie will have a good home!

How much is that doggie in the window...
The one with the waggly tail...
How much is that doggie in the window...
I do hope that doggie's for sale!

I know that's not the whole song, but... :p

Here's a song that was on the radio while I was growing up, It gave me the giggles!!!!!!!!!

"Bird Dog"--by The Everly Brothers!!!!

Johnny is a joker, ( he's a bird)
A very funny joker, (he's a dog)

But when he jokes my honey, ( he's a dog)

His jokin ain't so funny, ( such a dog)

Johnny is a joker who's been tryin to steal my baby, (he's a bird dog!!)

Hey Bird dog get away from my quail,
Hey bird dog your're on the wrong trail,

Bird dog you'd better leave my lovie dovie all alone,

Hey Bird dog get away from my chick,

Hey bird dog , you'd better back away quick,

Bird dog go find yourself a little chickee all your own!!!!

"Old King"

King went a-runnin' after deer
Wasn't scared of jumpin'
off the truck in high gear
King went a-sniffin'
and he would go
Was the best old hound dog
I ever did know.

I had a dog and his name was King
I told the dog about everything
There in my truck the dog and I
Then one day the King up and died.

Then I thought about
the times we had
Once when I kicked him
when he was bad
Old King sure meant a lot to me
But that hound dog is history.

King went a-runnin' after deer
Wasn't scared of jumpin'
off the truck in high gear
King went a-sniffin'
and he would go
Was the best old hound dog
I ever did know.

That old King was a friend of mine
Never knew a dog
that was half as fine
I may find one, you never do know
'Cause I still got a long way to go.

I had a dog and his name was King
I told the dog about everything
Old King sure meant a lot to me
But that hound dog is history.

King went a-howlin' after deer
Wasn't scared of jumpin'
off the truck in high gear
King went a-sniffin'
and he would go
Was the best old hound dog
I ever did know.

"Bron-y-aur stomp"

yeah caught you smiling at me,
Thats the way it should be,
Like a leaf is to a tree, so fine.
yeah all the good times we had,
I sang love songs so glad
Always smiling, never sad, so fine.

as we walk down the country lanes,
Ill be singing a song,
Hear me calling your name.
Hear the wind within the trees,
Telling mother nature bout you and me.

Well if the sunshines so bright,
Or on our way its darkest night
The road we choose is always right, so fine.
yeah can your love be so strong
When so many loves go wrong
Will our love go on and on and on and on and on and on?

as we walk down the country lanes,
Ill be singing a song,
Hear me calling your name.
Hear the wind within the trees,
Telling mother nature bout you and me.

My, my la de la come on now it aint too far,
Tell your friends all around the world,
Aint no companion like a blue eyed merle.
Come on now well let me tell you,
What youre missing, missing, round them brick walls.

So of one thing I am sure,
Its a friendship so pure,
Angels singing all around
My dog is so fine.

Yeah, aint but one thing to do
Spend my natral life with you,
Youre the finest dog I knew, so fine.
When youre old and your eyes are dim,
There aint no old shep gonna happen again,
Well still go walking down country lanes,
Ill sing the same old songs,
Hear me call your name

"I Love My Dog"

I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

All he asks from me is the food to give him strength
All he ever needs is love and that he knows he'll get

So, I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

All the pay I need comes shining through his eyes
I don't need no cold water to make me realize that

I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana...

I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.

Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana...

I love my dog, Baby, I love my dog. Na, na, na...
I love my dog, Baby, I love my dog. Na, na, na...

I had to look up these lines on Google.

I kept remembering them, a man singing about, "Old Dogs and Children"

It was sung by Tom T Hall

the last verse is:

I had to catch a plane up to Atanta that next day,

As I left for my room , I saw him pickin up my change,

That night I dreamed in peaceful sleep, of shady summertime,

of Old Dogs and Children, and watermelon wine.

Are there any people who were born in the 70's , early 80's who remember watching a filmed segment about a "Hard Workin' Dog"?? I think it was an Austrailian Cattle Dog, or Aussie Shephard. The narrater spoke the words from the dogs point of view, then sang the refrain (I'm a dog, I'm a workin' dog) between verses!!! This Cattle dog really put in a hard days work!!!!!

I just loved watching it, and I sang the song for my kids when they requested !!!!

Years later-------------

I had to look it up because I forgot the words.( no more requests for it I assume )

I'm a Dog, I'm a workin' Dog,
I'm a hard workin' Dog,

Now I never said I was a HOG, And you can see I'm not a frog,

I'm tryin to tell ya, I'm a DOG---

Now, some dogs can fetch a stick,

Other dogs will shake yer hand,

I even heard of a dog that can roll over,
all I know how to do,

Is take a hundred cows and teach em some manners!!!

Now I'm not the top dog,
I'm not much of a bird dog,
I'm not the best watch dog,
But I'm an awful good COW DOG

It's a Dog's Life,

and I love it!!!!!

:D :D If no one remembers this song, I think it is time to see a Doctor!!!! :D :D :D Or, at the least, get a copyright!!!! :D I've got the giggles today!!!!

"Ol' Red" by Blake Shelton
Well I caught my wife with another man
And it cost me ninety nine
On a prison farm in Georgia
Close to the Florida line
Well I'd been here for two long years
I finally made the warden my friend
And so he sentenced me to a life of ease
Taking care of Ol Red

Now Ol' Red he's the damnedest dog that I've ever seen
Got a nose that can smell a two day trail
He's a four legged tracking machine
You can consider yourself mighty lucky
To get past the gators and the quicksand beds
But all these years that I've been here
Ain't nobody got past Red

And the warden sang
Come on somebody
Why don't you run
Ol' Red's itchin' to have a little fun
Get my lantern
Get my gun
Red'll have you treed before the mornin' comes

Well I paid off the guard and I slipped out a letter
To my cousin up in Tennessee
Oh and he brought down a blue tick hound
She was pretty as she could be
Well they penned her up in the swampland
'Bout a mile just south of the gate
And I'd take Ol' Red for his evening run
I'd just drop him off and wait

And the warden sang
Come on somebody
Why don't you run
Ol' Red's itchin' to have a little fun
Get my lantern
Get my gun
Red'll have you treed before the mornin' comes

Now Ol' Red got real used to seeing
His lady every night
And so I kept him away for three or four days
And waited till the time got right
Well I made my run with the evenin' sun
And I smiled when I heard 'em let Red out
'Cause I was headed north to Tennessee
And Ol' Red was headed south

And the warden sang
Come on somebody
Why don't you run
Ol' Red's itchin' to have a little fun
Get my lantern
Get my gun
Red'll have you treed before the mornin' comes

Now there's red haired blue ticks all in the South
Love got me in here and love got me out

"Keg in the Closet" by Kenny Chesney
We had a dog named Bocephus? living in the front yard he liked sleeping out on the top of
the car he’d drink beer out of the mason jar and he climb up on everyone's bed

"The Devil Went Down To Georgia" by the Charlie Daniels Band
Granny, does your dog bite? No, child, no.

"Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" by Big and Rich
So I took her out giggin frogs
Introduced her to my old bird dog
And sang her every Wilie Nelson song I could think of

and I'm sure I'll be editing to add more. You can bet if the even so much as mention a dog I'll hear it.

"Fluffy" By Ween

Fluffy, furry buddy
Chewed his leg on the porch
Why'd you do it fluffy, on the porch?

Good dog fluffy, old friend my pal
Fluffy's got his buddy on the porch
Penny, she's my girlie, she sits here with me on the porch
Penny looks so pretty on the porch

Penny takes fluffy for a walk out on the path
Fluffy chases the other doggies on the path
But big sister penny get fluffy back on the porch
So me and fluffy and penny were on the porch

This old man, he played one
He played knick-knack on my thumb,
with a knick-knack, paddywhack,
Give a dog a bone!
This old man came rolling home!

This old man, he played two,
He played knick-knack on my shoe;
Knick-knack paddywhack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.

This old man, he played three,
He played knick-knack on my knee;
Knick-knack paddywhack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.

This old man, he played four,
He played knick-knack on my door;
Knick-knack paddywhack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.

This old man, he played five,
He played knick-knack on my hive;
Knick-knack paddywhack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.

This old man, he played six,
He played knick-knack on my sticks;
Knick-knack paddywhack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.

This old man, he played seven,
He played knick-knack up in Heaven;
Knick-knack paddywhack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.

This old man, he played eight,
He played knick-knack on my gate;
Knick-knack paddywhack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.

This old man, he played nine,
He played knick-knack on my spine;
Knick-knack paddywhack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.

This old man, he played ten,
He played knick-knack once again;
Knick-knack paddywhack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.

Daddy Wouldn’t Buy Me a Bow Wow
by
Joseph Tabrar

I love my little cat, I do
With soft black silky hair
It comes with me each day to school
And sits upon the chair
When teacher says "why do you bring
That little pet of your's?"
I tell her that I bring my cat
Along with me because

Daddy wouldn't buy me a bow-wow! bow wow!
Daddy wouldn't buy me a bow-wow! bow wow!
I've got a little cat
And I'm very fond of that
But I'd rather have a bow wow wow!

We used to have two tiny dogs
Such pretty little dears
But daddy sold 'em 'cause they used
To bite each other's ears
I cried all day, at eight each night
Papa sent me to bed
When Ma came home and wiped my eyes
I cried again and said

Daddy wouldn't buy me a bow-wow! bow wow!
Daddy wouldn't buy me a bow-wow! bow wow!
I've got a little cat
And I'm very fond of that
But I'd rather have a bow wow wow

I'll be so glad when I get old
To do just as I "likes"
I'll keep a parrot and at least
A half a dozen tykes
And when I've got a tiny pet
I'll kiss the little thing
Then put it in its little cot
And on to it I'll sing

Daddy wouldn't buy me a bow-wow! bow wow!
Daddy wouldn't buy me a bow-wow! bow wow!
I've got a little cat
And I'm very fond of that
But I'd rather have a bow wow wow

Dog Poetry

There Was a Little Dog

There was a little dog and he had a little tail
And he used to wag, wag, wigit!
But when he was sad, because he had been bad,
On the ground he would drag, drag, drag it!
Nursery Rhyme

Walkin in a Doggie Wonderland

Dog tags ring, are you listenin'?
In the lane, snow is glistenin'.
It's yellow, NOT white I've been there tonight,
Marking up my winter wonderland.
Smell that tree? That's my fragrance.
It's a sign for wandering vagrants;
"Avoid where I pee, it's MY pro-per-ty!
Marked up as my winter wonderland."

In the meadow dad will build a snowman,
following the classical design.
Then I'll lift my leg and let it go Man,
So all the world will know that it's mine-mine-mine!

Straight from me to the fence post,
flows my natural incense boast;
"Stay off my TURF, this small piece of earth,
I marked it as my winter wonderland."

:D I love that Doggie Wonderland piece! It was posted last year during the holidays here on PT with one small variation - the last verse. Here it is:

It's a doggie wonderland...
Dog tags ring, are you listening?
In the lane, snow is glistening,
It's yellow, not white, I've been there tonight,
Marking up my Winter Wonderland.
Smell that tree? That's my fragrance,
It's a sign for wandering vagrants,
"Avoid where I pee, it's MY property,
Marking up my Winter Wonderland.
In the meadow, Mom will build a snowman,
Following the classical design,
Then I'll lift my leg, and let it go, Man,
So all the world will know it's mine-mine-MINE!
Off I go, snow's a-falling,
Bladders full, natures calling,
Stay offa my turf, this small piece of earth,
I marked it as my Winter Wonderland!

 now I'm in the holiday spirit! :D

For anyone who has every lost a best dog friend.....we want you to enjoy and embrace our song "Better with you There" The inspiration for the song came from life with our 2 Jack Russell Terriers....and sadly since we wrote the song....we have lost 3 and are now down to one..."BUG" We hope the lyrics will touch you and bring to mind those good times you spent with your best friend....Please enjoy DOG SONG 2 Better with you There on YOUTUBE at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4IcvnlGjhg
My friends down at the factory say I'm....actin' mightly strange
Its not that I look different,,but somehow somethings changed
they ask me "hows the wife n kids I tellem...we're all doin great"
But head hung low I turn and just keep walking thru the gate
Cuz when I'd get home from work each night, you were always there to greet me..
With so much love my troubles seemed to fade n turn to smiles
You'd smother me with kisses...sitting in that big ole chair
Life was so much BETTER WITH YOU THERE
Well I been tryikn' t pass the time without you.....things just ain't the same
I stare at that old collar rememberin' how I'd holler out yer name.....
When I'd say " C mere boy..lets go for a ride..." you'd beat me to the car each time
..with the windows down wind blowin' in your face....( refrain )
(bridge) I know you had to leave..but its so hard on me.....to go on ...without my best friend...
NOW when I get home from work each night....you're NOT THERE to greet me..
Suddenly I'm troubled..and its hard for me to smile..
Left with NO MORE KISSES.....sittin alone in OUR OLD CHAIR
Life was so much better...Life was so much Better ...back when ( refrain )
[We hope you enjoy the pics and the song.....and welcome your comments. RR
