Hi All ~

Looks like our good fortune with http://www.NetSnapShot.com has run out :(.

As for the disappearing NetSnapShot.com photos ~
Missing photos link to a message stating:

"This item has exceded it's allowed link access"

We think that's puter jive for "It's been called up and viewed too many times". This must be one of the ways NetSnapShot.com is limiting their "free" site without charging money or totally eliminating the viewing of their photos on other sites.
Wonder if there is any way to reset or restore the photo for more off-site viewing?

Our lil NetSnapShot.com signature photos went bye-by the same darn way ~ "Exceeded it's allowed link access"...

We just joined up with the http://www.imagestation.com gang - and uploaded our Thummies... Back in the lime-light for anudder cupla weeks!

Tuxluver and Sara luvs her Tinky ~
You galz might want to sign up on http://www.ImageStation.com and upload your Signature Thummys to their site. Then do the ole *Right-Klik* and *Copy Image Location* trick and change the Image Data in your "profile" information in the Pet Talk User CP.

NO guarentee on how long the ImageStation thummys will last...
I have a *hunch* that once they see a lot of off-their-site use of their photos - they'll be pulling the plug, too! :(

Sara, you can see your image because it is in your internet cache. If you empty your internet temporary files you won't be able to see it either, just like the rest of us.

Well, Imagestation works, for now....guess one of these days we'll just have to break down and create our own web sites...

....I just received an email from Netsnapshots - it began like this:

It's good news and bad news time.

The good news is that netsnapshot is now much faster.

T he bad news, for many of you, is that we opted to deny outside link access to individual images in order to achieve the speed increase.

It went on to say that they would consider doing this for a "fee" if enough users were interested

My hunch is that all such sites will eventually take this approach as apparently the increased traffic (likely mostly from Pettalk) ;) is taxing their server resources. I sent a note back saying that users are frustrated with fees here and fees there and it would be nice if these sites would tell you up front before you go to the trouble of loading things.

Take a look at my post here (http://64.246.0.213/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10864) if you want to a good hoster who won't get disallow off-site linking

Thanks, Ann! I do understand Netsnapshot and others' dilemma - the traffic generated creates cost for the original hosters and their original intent is not to be website hosters. I do believe they could all do a better job of explaining that to their users.

Thanks for the info on the site - it looks extremely reasonable, cost wise.

Glad to hear that tuxluvr. But if you do feel that it is too expensive, let me know and I'll email them and ask if they can cut you a deal as they did with me.
