I am so nervous I haven't gotten ANYTHING done today.

I really really hate jumping on and jumping right back off but my internet here at home really sucks!!!

I have to be at the hospital at 400 to start the induction. My friend is going to be here at 200 to pick me up. We are going to go get something SUPER YUMMY to eat and then to check in.

I am soooo scared. I didn't get any sleep last night. They are going to start the cream to dialate me today and the *shoot i can't think of what it is called*..... it starts with a P..... and it starts the contractions, in the morning. ... . so chances are it will be tomorrow before Alden is born.

I have Johanna's number in my purse and will call her as soon as he is born with all the good information like how much he weighs.... and as long as he has been cookin in there.. he is probably gonna be a big one... ;)

I miss you guys. i've been so busy and nervous. I should be on more once the baby is here and I have more patience for this stupid computer...

I'll be so glad to get this over with. my nerves are fried!!!

Please say a prayer for me.. :)

Try not to worry too much, relax and remember to breathe! :)
The P word must be Pitocin which is the drug used to induce labor.
Not too much longer and you will be holding your newborn son in your arms.
I'm sure you will have a big healthy boy, both of my sons were over 8 lbs and one was 10 days overdue and the other one was induced so I know just how you are feeling right now.
You can do it!
I can't wait to hear the big news! :)

Excellent idea to eat first. Once they start induction, they won't let you eat until you're done and Alden is here.

I'm so excited for you and will keeping positive thoughts headed your way for a fast and easy delivery.

Well they moved the start of her induction up to this morning. I would imagine that they will probably be starting the Pitocin early this morning (maybe now? ) That is what the plan was when I had my daughter. I was to be induced about 6:00 am. but unfortunately all of the monitors were in use so I had to wait until someone delivered to get a monitor. We might be looking at several hours before Alden appears but I hope not. First babies often take longer but I hope for Sara's sake she is the exception to the rule. I was. My firstborn appeared after only 5 hrs. of labor. Sara we are thinking of you and praying hard and hoping you are not too nervous and that all is going well. :)

I began with pitocin at 7:30am, my OBGYN broke my water within an hour of that, and Aidan was born at 5:19pm. I'm guessing on an afternoon/evening baby for Sara too!

Johanna, when I had Helen, I had a similar situation. Pitocin started at 6:30 am (or thereabouts) and she didn't arrive until almost 6 pm!

Could be a couple of days guys, especially for a first time mom and if she wasn't quite ready sometimes it takes a while for the drugs to work, sometimes up to three days in rare cases, then she still has labor to go through so it could be quite a while yet.

Just going to post this.... First time moms have a hard time with labor. My mom was in labor with me for 32 hours  So it could still be awhile

Just going to post this.... First time moms have a hard time with labor. My mom was in labor with me for 32 hours  So it could still be awhileThat's a myth. It's really just up to each individual woman. I just had my first baby in December. I was started on pitocin at 7:30am, they broke my water by 8:15am, I started pushing at 5pm and Aidan was born at 5:19pm. The woman across the hall from me was being induced with her fourth child and I beat her. It depends on the woman, not the number of pregnancies she's had.

They broke my daughters water at 8:45 AM Charity arrived at 12:45 PM first timer and 24years old age as nothing to do with it either.

It isn't actually a 'myth'...as **most** first labors are longer. Of course, there are exceptions to all generalities. Yours being one of them (though, 10.5 hours of labor, **after** pitocin, isn't exactly speedy, is it?). Considering I was only 1cm dialated up to that point (39 weeks along) and not effaced, I'd say that a 10 hour labor ain't bad. He actually probably should've been born about an hour earlier, but I was scared and didn't tell them I felt like I could push until I couldn't stand it anymore. At any rate, I don't have a medical background so I can only go off what my OBGYN told me and that is that every woman is different, every labor is different, so the "first time labors are always longer" is just an old wives' tale. It is completely up to the woman, not the number of pregnancies she's had.

I'm not trying to get into a pissing match - neither of us have any medical background - I'm just telling you what my OB told me when I asked her what I could expect when we first began talking inductions.
