I was asked to a do a portrait of two big cats. Ok, no problem. I expected two Allen and Harry type cats.

It is my biggest drawing yet. Not only in actual size, but also because I covered the whole paper. with detail throughout the whole thing.

This is a test to see if my colors are right. To see if your colors have true depth, you need to turn it into black and white. I forgot to do that test until after I proclaimed it complete :) I usually do the test as I go along and modify my colors to get true depth.

Unfortunately the colors photographed badly. Anyone with Photoshop willing to help me?
This is what the grass & background actually looks like in real life

But that makes the lions look red. So I edited the photo to get the lions to the right color (which makes the grass look like Crayola green)

I just can't seem to figure out how to edit the photo so that the grass is the right green and the kions the right yellow. I tried cutting the photo out and laying it over the other.... ooooo was that bad!

Anyhow, I just had to share my newest drawing with you. I never expected this type of big cat! :D

My Boyfriend Kevin knows photoshop, I'll ask him when he gets home from work, I'm sure he'll be able to help, unless somebody else has helped before he can.
Your drawings are wonderful.

Do you do drawings of people's pets by any chance?

Kim, you can go into Hue/Saturation and click on "Master" which will then show you that you can edit the yellows in the image separately from the red, green, etc.

Here, I just made the "reds" a bit yellower, so that just affected the lions.

The Pet Angels have more than a few Big Ctas, and are they ever handy for carrying the food trays.
We love Lions, and were not Lying.

I am not familiar with any computer art programs except Paint. Heh. I will ask my sister and friend when they get online.

It sure is beautiful, though. Do you take commissions? :D

Dear Catnapper,

My boyfriend Kevin says that on Photoshop you can go to image, adjustments then selective colour and you can alter the colour balance of individual colours.
Hope that helps, if not now for this drawing then for future ones that you do.
