I received an alert notice that the Michigan Dept of Natural Resources has been approached by the Trappers Association to weaken trapping restrictions. I would like to ask you to help in a letter writing campaign to get this request denied. A short letter is all that is needed and can be faxed.

Under the Fur Harvester rules it is illegal to set any catching device designed to hold an animal alive unless it it tended EACH DAY, a minimal requirement considering the animal must endure pain and suffering for at least 24 hours before being killed. The Trappers Association has requested that the DNR rescind the daily trap check, complaining it is too labor intesive, awwww...isn't that TOOO bad for them...duh,then don't do it!!!

Trapping is abhorent and unnecessary in this day and age and should be ABOLISHED, not encouraged.
Considering that the trappers probably don't check every day anyways, the practice should not be allowed to occur to the further detriment of our wildlife, not to mention pets that get caught in these steel horrors.

Please write today to
Natural Resources Commission
Attn: Teresa Gloden
P.O. Box 30028

FAX (517) 335-4242

the deadline for comments is June 6. If you live in the Tawas area there will be a DNR meeting on this subject with public appearances beginning at 4:30. For details about the hearing contact Teresa Gloden at (517) 373-2352.

THANK YOU ALL for helping our wildlife.
