We still have this heatwave here; the thunderstorms they promised didn't come, and it's hot and humid.

I cannot stand it, and it looks like Luna and Lily don't like it either. They don't eat much, they do not play, all they do is laying in their bed - or even somewhere on the floor.

These were the girls today, trying to cope with the heat:

And here's Luna, who slept all day:

Awwwww, poor sweeties!

It's way hotter than usual here in Colorado, too. But the funny thing is, I installed window air conditioners in my home office and bedroom, which are now nice and cool (my next electric bill is going to really hurt!). So where do most of the cats spend most of the day? Yep, all sprawled out in the nice hot living room. Go figure!

The Found Cats Dont Like That Smell Of Freon, And Will Do Anything To Avoid It.
That Porch Will Be A Godesnd To Them, As They Will Always Get A Nice Breeze.
I Can See Having To Put The Food And Water Out There.
Its wonderful as always to see Lily and Luna.

Poor Lily and Luna! All that nasty heat and no relief in sight, what is a kitty to do? You do have the right idea there, kitty girls, just take it easy and be sure to drink plenty of water. Hmm... maybe Meowmie will add an ice cube or two so it will be nice and cool for you. Sending both of you scritchies and tummy rubs!

I didn't think about the freon. But they still pile on the bed at night, so I don't think it bothers them too much. :D

You continue to take the most beautiful kitty pictures. :D (of course, you also have a couple of very stunning models).

Oh poor girls! You can come here if you want, since yesterday it's cold again! More than 10 degrees difference!

Lovely pictures! Kiss your girls for me, OK?

Pouncer is shocked at the mistreatment his Lily is experiencing! He says you need to go talk to the weather forecaster and insist they send a cold front your way. :D

The bi-weekly pets columnist in the San Jose Mercury News once did a column on cats in hot weather. She pointed out that most of them can deal with the heat, as their wild ancestors hunted under the merciless sun of East Africa. Generally, cats will find a safe comfortable spot and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Of course, their hooman servants should keep fresh water on hand at all times.

Shame we hoomans can't just go zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz in hot weather.

They know how to deal with the heat...do NOTHING. Take lots of naps, drink a bunch of water, and take more naps!

They are beautiful girls!

Kirsten-

Do you have any of those ice packs that take forever to melt? If so, place it in a small towel, and let the kitties lay on it, it will cool them down.

My vet told me to do this, years ago when I had an outdoor kitty hanging around (was the neighbors, but was always at my house  ) Pumkin just loved sitting on her cool bed. I had 2, and that seemed to be enough to last through the day.

You know, this can also help humans out too! :p
