Quite sick of the nasty rainy weather we've had all day, so I decided to resize some photos I've taken in our yard. Most of them are just pictures I took for my mom of her flowers, so nothing too spectacular there. However, I personally LOVE the pictures I took of the nasty, yet interesting little slug.

Anywho...

Anyone know what type of bird this is? This is momma bird keeping an eye out on me. She built a nest in our Bougainvillea.

The reason she was keeping her eye out is because she was teaching her babies how to fly. Here's one of them in our shrubs in the front.

Pretty Purslanes. This is one of my favorite flowers. They are so neat. They open in full sunlight and close when it's dark. I got this one for my mom and she went back and bought 2 more in different colors.

Forget the name of these, they grow like weeds around here! The tropical storm/hurricane broke a big portion of this off today. =(

And last but not least, the ickly slug that I saved from The Muttlies... (He was in our pool area when they went out to potty.)

Awesome pictures! At first I thought that the first picture was the one of the slug until I read the caption, lol.

Wonderful pictures!! I just don't see how people can keep such beautiful gardens... I've never had a green thumb. :( I wish I did, though.
And I think the slug is neat! Not gross at all. :D

WOW!! Those pictures are just terrific. The ultra-close-ups are always fascinating to look at.

As for the bird - it looks like a mockingbird to me. It is hard to tell for sure without seeing the flying silhouette but it appears to have the white bands, mockingbird beak and the breast speckles that the younger birds have.
