I was messing around with the camera in the garden yesterday evening, and I was randomly taking pictures of stuff. I sort of got into the whole photography thing, and got a few good pics. Hmm, reckon there's anything in these photos? I've never tried much photography before so this is pretty much a first for me.

This is a yellow rose. I shone a torch on the flower as I took the picture, so it caused the background to look dark and for the rose to look like it was glowing.

This is a white iris, created with the same effect as above

This one's my favourite, it's another white iris, just taken from above using the torch technique. I've got it as my desktop background now;)

So what do you think? Any tips? I would love to know if you think they're good or bad :)

I really like the last one, the second one is nice, too. The first one's a little too abstract. ;) good job, though! keep trying and post your pictures often!

I've read that article, it is brilliant! It also has a long article on football (soccer) and the world cup, and it was a very interesting read on how people in the USA view football :)

Oh nothing special, just a little Sony Powershot I got for my birthday. It's quite good for its size and considering that it wasn't too pricy;)

Thanks everyone! I quite like the one of the rose in a way, but I too like the last one the best:D

Keep Playing Around. Try Using Different Settings, Aperature And Shutter Speeds. If You Have Manual Setting Capabilities, Try And Learn To Utilize Them And Manipulate Them To Your Liking.

Basically, That Is How All Good Photographers Get Started. Nothing Like Knowing Your Equipment And Technology To Get The Very Best Results You're Capable Of.

Good Work And Stick With It!!!
