View Full Version : Andy and I got a new place!

It's not a house (which we're saving for), but Andy and I just signed the lease to a two bedroom apartment that is in the same complex that I'm currently at.

Kia got to tour the place already (and rolled on the carpets  ). Zam and Logan know something is up, but are surprisingly calm, despite odd looks at all the boxes around my place.

Andy and I are already bickering about what goes where. :o :D Ah the joys of having a roommate that's also your soon to be husband.

The carpet is being cleaned today and we can start moving our stuff in on Wednesday. Hopefully we'll be fully moved in by Monday.

And without further ado, some photos:

Standing in front of the door. Living room to the right; dining room and kitchen to the left. Down the hall, first bedroom to the right; main bathroom to the left. Second bedroom at the end of the hall with second attached bathroom.

And that's it! It feels huge right now, being empty and being larger than the apartment I've lived in for 3 years, but I'm sure it'll feel small and homey in no time.

Hopefully Kia, Zam, and Logan will love it. :)

The cats now have window sills! *laughs*

It's the little things... :D

Looks great - ooooh, will the kitties be allowed balcony access? Glad Kia already rolled on the carpets - an important part of the inspection process!

Supervised. We're on the first floor so I don't have to worry about them falling from any heights. But what I really love is that it's indoor entry, so I don't have to worry about Zam escaping anymore when I come home with my hands full. :D

And the woman living there before us left a very pretty flower stand on the patio.

Flower stand or feline stand? Was that a typo? ;)

It's really quite nice! No apartment I ever lived in had a washer and dryer right in the unit. The best arrangement I ever had was to schlep it down one floor to the shared laundry room with other apartments. Most places it was all the way to the laundromat. And two (count 'em) bathrooms and a fireplace! Nope, never had that either.

It looks lovely- and I hope the kitties (who are by default disapproving of any moving) will soon sleep in front of the fireplace and wake up purring :)

oooohhh! The apartment looks so pretty! I LOVE the cabinetry and woodwork on the doors. I bet that laundry area will be great too with the hanging rod above the dryer and nice cabinets above the washer.

Thank you for the tour :)

Oh and the FIREPLACE! :D

Wow! A rental with a washer/dryer AND a fireplace. It looks so clean and nice....although it needs a touch of cat and dog hair to make it a home..... :D

Two full bathrooms and a fireplace! My house doesn't even have that much. And your kitchen has twice the counterspace and about as much room. :D

That's a nice apartment! A fireplace, a washer & dryer, granite (or granite looking) kitchen counters! Two bedrooms! When can I move in?

Not far really. There is a small grove of trees that the creek winds thru right outside our patio. I wish I had remembered to take a photo.

The designated "poop pen" is a bit of a farther walk though, but that's okay.

I liked it as soon as I walked through it. Kim old apartment is 520 square feet and this one is 1,000. Much nicer and lots of closet space. Her old apt doesn't have a dishwasher, and this one does, as well as a little larger refrigerator and of course the washer and dryer. All big pluses! We still have a storage unit we rented cause we have tons of stuff, being the pack rats we are. :D

The deck isn't huge, but nice enough for a couple chairs and such. (as mentioned in another post, the cats couldn't really hang out on the deck cause the slats of wood are large enough where they'd go through and wander away)

Kim knew before we decided on marriage that her cats constantly keep me awake at night since I'm such a light sleeper and any litterbox scraping, meowing, smashing their bodies (Zam) against doors and such keeps me awake, we decided to have a seperate room in which to lock the cats at night that's not connected to our bedroom. Ideally with a house I'll build a nice playroom of cat things for them to want to go there and not have it be a prison, but for now we'll put their litterbox in the back bathroom and let them roam the back bedroom in this new apt at night. But Kia and geckos will sleep in our bedroom. :)

It reminds me of an apartment Mark and I had (although it was on the 3rd floor  ), I LOVE it! Lots of room for everyone!

Can't wait to see it after you've got it furnished and everything in it's proper place, I bet it will look awesome!

Congrats on your first place together you two:D
