I asked all of you what color to make the rocking horse's hair. After careful consideration, we decided on light sage green hair (after we made a few color changes on the rocking rails). The fabric for the seat finally arrived, several shades darker than anticipated. So we decided to have some fun with the darker green. I painted the rails yellow, then applied a crackle medium and painted green over that. It looks antique :)

I went a little yarn happy... the horsie has LOTS of hair! :o Its the COOLEST yarn -- its very thready, and has bits of yellow and mint green in it.

Allen insisted on helping us put the bows on the horsie so he got one too :p

He was NOT amused

But look how handsome the green looks against his orange fur

I had sooo much fun making this horse - now I want to go into business repainting and refinishing old wooden rocking horses

Oh, I gave him a few! And all he did was meow in protest! :D

Hee hee.... last night hubby was looking at the horsie and asked if "I left the green like that on purpose" I asked what he meant - he said I missed a lot of yellow spots. Once I explained crackling and how it is meant to look like that, he said, "oh, then it looks great"   MEN!

Sage green was the color of my room growing up. I'm very fond of the color. :D

Can you make me a rocking horse that I can ride and not break? ;) :D

Kim, it really is cute. Ddi you find the rocking horse at a garage sale or antique store or did you already have him? Sorry I probably missed an earlier post. I think you did a terrific job, though!! :)
